Excited and nervous! I have lost 85lb already but it’s stopped and I still want to lose more (still obese, I was very very big) my GP suggested it, although I am paying privately from MedExpress.

It hasn’t been dispatched yet but should be here soon. Is it best to inject in the stomach or arm? Morning or night? Or doesn’t it matter? I’ve been reading here for a few months and there seem to be differing opinions.

Because I had a dietician previously I am pretty well versed on protein, supplements, water etc. I also had to have blood thinners after a previous surgery so am used to injecting myself!

It doesn’t matter if you inject into stomach, thigh or arm. It’s your choice as to what you feel is going to work best for you.

It also doesn’t matter what time of day you inject. Pick a time and day where you know you’ve got a few minutes to yourself without interruption. I normally do morning, but have done later in the day and haven’t found it makes any difference at all.

Have you found the May starters thread? It’s useful to chat to people at the same stage sometimes.

Hi, thanks for your reply and advice! Good to know.

I am just reading that thread now! I’ll post when it arrives which I hope will be soon!

Some cheaper options here btw: https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

Simple online pharmacy will price match everyone if you just want to stay with one pharmacy. They'd just need to see the prescription on your box as evidence you're already on it, and you just email a screenshot to them of whatever price you find cheaper, even with discount codes.

I'm with Livewell pharmacy personally because medexpress will cut you off when you get to 23.5 and they don't support maintenance. I know I need mounjaro long term for PCOS and insulin resistance so I'm with a maintenance friendly provider.

But there are a lot of good pharmacies on monj.

I’ve just put an order in too. Not been approved yet, but can’t possibly see how anyone could think I wasn’t a high BMI or not suitable. I’ve loads to lose.

I do mine Thursday evening because I picked it up from the chemist on the way home from work on a Thursday, and I inject belly because it seemed like a decent place to find an easy pinch of fat to inject into and it’s never caused me an issue so I just kept doing it.

Dont think too hard about it, read the instructions and make sure you follow them but don’t fret about the small details. If it turns out that the day doesn’t work for you then you can move it a day a week until you get to where you want to be, if you don’t like injecting your belly then next week try your thigh.

I also want to say that I built it up and thought it was going to be a horrible painful process. It was actually really easy and I barely even felt it.

afaloren · 15/05/2025 18:27

@Fatrosrhun fingers crossed for you!

@InfoSecInTheCity thank you, that’s helpful and reassuring. My vague plan is to inject on either a Thursday or a Friday so the suppression, should that happen for me, is strongest over the weekend. Definitely plenty of fat on my belly to pinch Grin

I just got approved. So I guess we might be starter thread buddies!

There's a good video here talking you through how to do the first dose. I think I would have struggled with just the written instructions.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdr2dL8R/

I have been injecting into my stomach. The arm is supposed to be the back of the arm so that only works if you have someone to do it for you.

My tips would be to be careful taking the lid off the needle (I bent a needle once and accidentally pricked my finger slightly last week) and inject slowly (I once injected way too quickly and it formed a weird bubble of medicine under the skin and some leaked out).

Mounjaro has been life-changing for me so I hope you have good results too.
