Mounjaro - can I go up two doses?

I've just taken my fourth dose of Mounjaro 2.5ml and it's going well. I've gone to order my next pen at 5.0ml and it's out of stock. I'd like to stick to the same pharmacy, so would I be able to go on to the 7.0 dosage straight from 2.5?

I think its always best to talk to your provider as they should be helping with this but cant imagine they would advise a jump, they may suggest sticking to the 2.5mg for an extra pen.

The pharmacy would likely question that, and I would not suggest trying it. You''d be going from 2.5mg tripling that to 7.5mg, which is a massive increase in your system from where your levels are now.

It's really unusual for a pharmacy to be out of stock for the lower doses, I really would consider changing to one that can supply you with the correct dose.

People struggle sometimes going from 2.5 to 5, so 2.5 to 7 wouldn't be recommended.
Hopefully your provider can advice, or give an idea of restocking times.

I very much doubt a pharmacist would prescribe a 7.5 as It’s a min of 4 weeks on each dose

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 11/05/2025 16:17

I had no side effects on 2.5 but an allergic reaction at 5mg so would not recommend skipping one level. I don't think the prescriber would let you anyway as the dosage rules are very clear about 4 weeks minimum at each dose

Your pharmacist will not prescribe you jumping from 2.5mg to 7.5mg. So your options are stick with 2.5mg - they might suggest temporarily injecting every 5-6 days if you are struggling staying there but don't do this alone, ask them. It is also more expensive for you as you will go through the pen quicker.

Personally if you want to increase I would go to another pharmacy for the 5mg pen, you can always return to the original pharmacy when they have their stock problem resolved showing proof of increased dose elsewhere. They pharmacy should support this especially when it was their issue.

Is it one of the newer pharmacies not coping with being newly online? Stock problems with lower doses is very unusual which would concern me how reliable they are/will be if I need to increase to higher doses which do sometimes have stock issues.

If 2.5 is going well do you need to move up at all? It’s not compulsory. Do not jump straight to 7.5 each dose move is a real adjustment.

wineandcheeseplease · 11/05/2025 16:41

No way

GloriaHotcakes · 11/05/2025 17:04

Nope you’re better off sticking with 2.5 again

YourQuickBee · 11/05/2025 17:13

Hi, you can’t jump to 7.5 but I ordered my 5mg from TribElle yesterday and they had stock. Really friendly team as well to ask any questions.

statetrooperstacey · 11/05/2025 17:20

I think you could be very ill. Stick to 2.5 you don’t HAVE to go up a dose , I did 3 pens at 2.5 , in fact my weight loss only slowed down when I when up a dose .
