Bitten the bullet and switched to Oushk (hopefully)

Thought it would be useful to make a post for my experience. I started 5 weeks ago with a BMI of just 30. My BMI is now down to 28 and my provider (Asda) don’t support maintenance. So I’ve requested my 3rd pen with Oushk. Although hoping to get down to about BMI 23 first. Form submitted this morning - I’m guessing I won’t hear anything until next week… I’ve picked 30th May as a delivery date too so I guess I won’t be a priority.

How long do they usually take to turn around orders and will I need a video call?

I’m no longer with Oushk but in my experience you won’t hear anything until a couple of days before your delivery date when the approval will come through. It is my understanding that yes, they now require all customers to have a video call to verify ID and weight.

You won’t hear anything till a few days before your chosen delivery date.
If you are wanting to go onto a maintenance plan you need to book a maintenance consultation for once you reach your target, it is a video call where you chat about how you want to maintain and what they recommend, it costs £5 and they are currently booked up till August so you need to plan ahead, (although they often squeeze people in if you are at target weigh if you call and ask) once you are on a maintenance plan pens are 15% cheaper and free postage.
Everyone also now needs to have a weigh verification call, which came in after the tightening of regs, it takes 5 mins, they need to check your ID and see you standing on a scale, but they will send out pens before you do this, as again you need to book an appointment which is free and they don’t mind when you do it.
I hope you get on well with them, they have really grown massively since Christmas (partly due to offering a proper maintenance service) and that has caused some delivery and stock issues, but personally they have been very good for me, offered great support and easy to contact, lots of help and info if needed, my advice would be if possible don’t leave ordering too late, I always keep a back up pen in the fridge, most problems happen when a delivery goes wrong and someone has already run out, not ideal.

Thanks that’s very helpful. I don’t want to go on to maintenance for a good while yet. I’m nowhere near that stage - wanted to get the ball rolling with switching to a supplier who wouldn’t cut me off once I went below BMI 25 though. Maybe I should book a maintenance call for September but it seems crazy when I’m still at least 2.5 stone away from my highest planned target weight! Presumably I can still get pens from them while I’m waiting for my maintenance call as long as my BMI is healthy?

I wish I hadn’t picked such a far away delivery date now - I just didn’t want an unnecessary pen hanging about in the fridge… I guess if I get turned down I can get another one from Asda before I run out. I don’t see why I would be turned down - I’ve been honest about everything and provided evidence of an existing prescription but I’m still worried as my BMI is now under 30.

I'm with Oushk, if you've been honest and answered all the questions and provided evidence I doubt you will be turned down so try not to worry!

Itscoldouthere · 10/05/2025 09:15

@Incognitoburrito88 If you call them you can probably get your delivery date brought forward, but they aren’t open weekends so call on Monday or email now and they will come back to you on Monday or Tuesday.

I get the impression they are very used to people switching to them for maintenance. I think it’s a big part of their business model so I doubt very much you’ll be turned down provided you have your prescription history from Asda showing your BMI at the start.

I switched to them when because of their maintenance when I was at 28 and there were no issues. There’s a lot wait for maintenance consultations though (have just had mine) so book ahead.
