Just that was on wegovy highest dose fir ages but just staying the same weight . ( I have lost 4 stones but easily have another couple of stones to lose.
The wegovy was v expensive at 2.4mgs and I thought I'd try mounjaro thought it might kick start me .
So I am on week three of 2.5 mgs and it's honestly like the bad old days.
I'm craving crisps chocolate etc!!
I'm managing to stay the same ish weight but it's a real struggle.
Did anyone else have this ?
The wegovy was effective from the first dose.
Any experience of others would be great to hear.
I have just ordered the 5mg dose

I don’t have any direct experience I’m afraid, but I would imagine that if you have spent a long time on semaglutide (Wegovy) then you might have developed a tolerance to GLP1 drugs and this is why you aren’t responding to a low dose of tirzepatide (Mounjaro) in the same way that a new patient might. I would suggest talking to your prescriber to see if there are adapted dosage guidelines for people in your position, especially if you stayed with the same provider for both drugs.

cakewench · 28/04/2025 19:00

If you've already been taking a GLP1, switching to another at the lowest dose isn't going to be effective in the way it was the first time you took a GLP1. They work on the same receptors and those receptors get used to the medication over time hence the need to increase doses.

MJ is dual acting in that it also slows down digestion, making you feel full longer, but the GLP1 aspects are similar.

Anyway: in the USA, where they've had these medications longer, patients moving from one to the other are often started on 5mg rather than 2.5mg, because they've concluded the above regarding the GLP1s. It hasn't been offered as a prescribing option here but it's at the doctor's discretion there.

And since you've asked: loads of people have had your same experience! I'm sorry you're going through it. It should get better the further along through the doses you go. People post about it on reddit often.

Thankyou
No I changed providers.
It's fine I'm hoping as it's a slightly different drug it will start to work
On a higher dose. In all honesty even if it helps me stay as I am it's ok .
I wonder what would happen if I stopped for 6 months would the effects be good again?
I guess all of this is new

Thankyou - I'm not on Reddit but that is helpful.
Just so aware that I could so easily regain . I've been taking these drugs since December 2022

I've heard of people going from highest dose wegovy straight to 10mg Mounjaro

Definitely worth discussing your situation with your prescriber/ provider

MarshaMarshaMarsha · 28/04/2025 19:37

I’m in exactly the same boat. Also lost 4 stone on Wegovy and moved supplier. I thought I had to start on lowest dose and they didn’t advise otherwise.

I’m snacking like I used to which I haven’t done for 14 months on Wegovy!! Losing and gaining the same pound. I’m going to take my final dose this week as well as the “extra” dose. Annoyingly have already ordered the 5mg to start next week. I’m hoping it kicks in soon!

cakewench · 28/04/2025 19:42

If you have a prescriber where you can actually speak to a pharmacist or a consulting physician, it could be worth getting in contact and asking about taking the MJ on an an accelerated schedule, for example every 5 days rather than every 7. Explain your situation. Sometimes they suggest it.

I wouldn't bother with asking this of the customer service rep though, they can't help. But your prescriber could.

Oh wow we sound the same!
Are you near your goal weight? I've still got 2 stones to go .
I do feel better but there's no doubt I'm going backwards just secretly ate a chocolate bar for example!

I probably should lose another two stone but I’d be happy with just one more to be honest!

I thought I had changed my eating habits for good as I had suppression from day one on Wegovy, didn’t snack at all and had stuck to healthy porridge for breakfast, a light lunch and dinner but now all I want is to pick at biscuits and get takeaways!! 😭

finallyskinny · 29/04/2025 06:41

I also swapped and been on mounjaro now for 6 weeks, no appetite change at all on mounjaro BUT I am still losing weight! I wish I hadn't have swapped!

uggmum · 29/04/2025 07:05

I was exactly the same. Lost just over 4 stone on ozempic but the loss slowed.
I switched to mounjaro. I started at 5mg which did give me suppression. I have just gone up to 7.5mg and I have lost over 2 kg in 2 weeks.
so it is definitely worth going up a dose.

blueleavesgreensky · 29/04/2025 07:12

OP I’m in the same boat. VERY slow weight loss but weight loss indeed on wegovy. Now after a year I am stuck on the same weight for 5 months.
i asked to move to mourjano but because my bmi is now 26.8 I can’t start a new medication as the process has to start from the beginning and I need to be over 30 bmi. It seems ridiculous. I can carry on paying £300 a month to stay on an unsatisfactory Wegovy but I can’t change to Mourjano.

Gigi936 · 29/04/2025 07:26

@blueleavesgreensky have you thought about having a consultation with another provider? £300 pm sounds top end costs plus from other threads it appears some companies are really moving on with their maintenance plans (I know you still want too loose, but with a BMI under 30 these companies may well have no issues changing to you to MJ as you can evidence your history using GLP1s) Just a thought

Try Oushk they let me swap with proof I had been on Wegovy for a year.

finespineline · 29/04/2025 07:46

Thankyou all so much . Today is my last 2.5 mg of mounjaro have a 5 mg coming on Friday .
Think I really have to just stay away from the snacks etc. just goes to show i haven't changed at all despite thinking I had.
Hopefully the higher dose will help. Feel so despondent at the thought of regaining

You have given me hope! I have messaged the pharmacy to see if if I can skip the 5mg and go straight to 10mg.

finespineline · 29/04/2025 10:36

Good luck ! I'm just going to start the 5mgs next week and go up gradually!
I was getting from Boots but they are really expensive so I'll just try and control myself!!!

OP posts:
MarshaMarshaMarsha · 16/06/2025 18:41

Coming back to this thread. The pharmacy wouldn’t let me swap to a higher dose. I’ve now moved up to 7.5mg naturally though and definitely get a bit more suppression. Still not 100% though but hopeful with three more strengths to move up through it will come back fully! I’m not putting on weight though which is good, but I really want to lose another 5-7 pounds ideally over summer!

How is everyone else getting on?
