2.5mg for 4 weeks and still as hungry as ever!

I know it’s a starting dose but I have literally felt nothing! I’ve seen many posts where people are so happy with results on 2.5mg they’ve actually stayed on it!

I move up to 5mg on Sunday. Anyone else find it was slow to start? Thank you.

Lots of people feel nothing ok the first few titration levels.

bookworm1982 · 23/04/2025 13:36

Try not to compare yourself to others. Everyone reacts differently. I was 'lucky' ones and lost 5st not needing more than 5mg. My colleague and one of my friends ( that started after me confiding in them that I was taking them ) have both needed to be at 15mg to really feel it and have been losing much slower. I had much worse initial side effects than either of them.
There's lots of factors to consider, hang in there.

I got nothing on the 2.5. Took the 5 Monday night so still early days. Ate a meal tonight though and overate and vomited. I can still eat though and still want food including bad food.
My friend lost loads on 2.5 and is finding the 5 too much.
The sulphur burps though on the 5 are rough

Pandimoanymum · 24/04/2025 05:41

I'm on week 3 day 4 today and in total I've lost a whole pound -yay, go me 😂On the plus side, I haven't had any side effects either.
Joking aside, I do feel a bit disappointed as so many posters start losing straightaway. I know that it's only a starting dose and it's not meant to have much effect but it's hard not to be impatient when it feels like everyone else is off to a flying start.
I'm thinking I might try a 3.75mg dose for the fourth week, and maybe the fifth, instead of 2.5g. See if that has any effect. If nothing else, it'll be a more gradual step up to 5mg.

For me 2.5mg was like eating smarties! There was a small placebo effect, plus I started a calorie control diet so placebo and willpower meant I did loose quite a bit of weight, but I definitely wasn't getting suppression etc...

5mg was better! Started to get some suppression and food noise started to reduce.

7.5mg the mounjaro effect properly kicked in but started to wear off quite quickly

10mg and all going really well so far.

I'm expecting to have to move up to 12.5mg soon.

I think some of us just need the higher doses to feel anything! 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose. I know it works well for some, but it didn't for me :) Hang in there, you will notice when the dose increases to 7.5 or 10 (or maybe 12.5) if not 5!

WaterInMajorca · 24/04/2025 07:53

(just to add, for me it takes a good 48 hours after the injection before the full impact kick in!)

xanthomelana · 24/04/2025 07:58

I’m on 12.5mg now and didn’t really feel much until I got to 7.5mg. Some people respond better than others to lower doses.

bookworm1982 · 25/04/2025 09:32

Thanks for your comments everyone. Still feel a bit disheartened and not got high hopes for 5mg either. I know that you have to stay on the 2.5mg for 4 weeks but what about the 5mg? Can I increase that to 7.5 say after two weeks?

My 5mg is kicking in now (took Monday evening). I’m getting full quicker and food isn’t appealing to me as much. When I overeat I feel awful. Side effects are also worse though. Sulphur burps, heartburn. Felt like the food lay in me repeating all night. Got none of these on the 2.5mg. I was going to go up after the 3rd week but I’m glad I didn’t.

Thanks for update. How long have you been on 5mg for? I take my first 5mg on Sunday.

Monday was my 1st time on 5mg. The 2.5 done absolutely nothing for me.

bookworm1982 · 25/04/2025 09:55

Same, done nothing, I am guessing I won’t be a super responder! Really hoping 5mg will work for me, if anything I’ve been more hungry 😩

I was exactly the same, I'm now on 5mg and it's working better but nowhere near how other people describe it, I can easily eat 2000 calories a day. I have lost 16lb in two months so it's definitely working! Have you lost any weight?

Well that’s reassuring, and 16 pounds is great! Nope not lost any weight at all, and appetite stronger than ever 🤣

Keep to the 4 week schedule for each dose increase. The medication is continuing to increase concentration in you body over the first 4 weeks of any dose increase.

It is completely normal for some people to not feel effects on the lower doses, that doesn't mean your body is not getting used to processing the medication. Be sensible and patient.

During this time look at the changes you are going to have to make to your diet. More focus on macros - getting in your protein (preferably including protein at every meal), reducing carbs, increasing water intake etc and if you can moving more to reduce the risk of excessive muscle loss once the medication kicks in.

It's 4 weeks per dose, this allows the dose to build up in your system.

Thank you. And yes be sensible and patient, I will stick to this advice! I am exercising a lot, and drinking lots of water too. Will work on my diet too whilst I wait for 5mg to - hopefully- kick in once I take it on Sunday 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I don't think you r meant to, and you should probably ask a health care provider. But I went up a bit early. I got fed up after 2 weeks on 5mg and nothing much happening, so just injected a few more clicks on week 3. Wek 3 and 4 I didn't really know how much I'd taken, around 6.5mg each time I think! But it did seem to make a difference and on 7.5mg I did definitely notice a difference
