Fat hurts after first mounjaro injection

i took my first injection yesterday, and thismorning the areas of my body that have the most fat, ie my stomach, top of arms, back, hips thighs and ankles etc all feel sore, the skin is sore but so is the fat underneath them, it feels almost bruised, also my neck too! Has anyone else experienced this?

Can't say I've heard of the fat hurting thing but there have been people saying that neck pain has been a side effect. Hope it resolved, you may like to look at the starter threads for mounjaro, I started mid march and joined the march one they're really supportive and often people report SE etc. and the solutions they've found. It's helpful if you are keeping it to yourself that you're on this drug, plus you can see the weight loss of others and see if you're on track with others.

No. This sounds psychosomatic

I actually do recognise that sensation. I get it sometimes when I eat too much sugary rubbish. I wake up the next morning and my skin feels sore, particularly around my hips.

I haven't had the injection, but maybe it's making you more sensitive to sugar? Just guessing - I'm no medic!

Tinkpod · 15/04/2025 20:23

@Nevertrustacopnothing psychosomatic about my fat and skin hurting so much I’ve had to take ibuprofen and paracetamol. I feel bruised like I’ve been in an accident

@10storeylovesonginteresting, I’m documenting everything daily so will watch when it happens and for how long

@MaMaMaMaBakerYea it really feels bruised around my middle ‘muffin top’ area, ankles, thighs, top of arms and under where my bra sits around my back. And my skin feels super sensitive/sore. All the bits of me that are carrying the worst of my weight. Interesting that you got it after eating too much sugary stuff, I wonder what the connection to insulin is

Yeah I really recognise that. It's especially around the fleshy parts of me that I get it, so all the same places you've mentioned. I also feel bruised and overstuffed like I might burst.

It's definitely not imaginary.

Tinkpod · 15/04/2025 20:56

@MaMaMaMaBakerno you are right, this is definitely not something ‘imaginary’… it’s real discomfort

I started MJ in August and had this too. Only after the first jab, all my fat hurt. Soon went away and haven’t had it since

Tinkpod · 15/04/2025 21:46

@Usernamechangeforthis12 that’s useful to know, thanks x
