Does anyone make the ‘protein coffee’ that Stacy Sims talks about a lot?

Faintly terrifying woman, but nonetheless, I like the idea of a protein heavy coffee first thing in the morning! There are millions of protein powders on the market though, how on earth do you choose one? They’re not cheap so I’m hoping to avoid having to try several until I find one I like.

Have a look at Willpowders protein powder. It’s a clean one. Their collagen is great also.

Who? I don’t drink coffee but try MyProtein as people seem to like them! Bulk also do an unflavoured one and I use Nutrition Geeks’ collagen which is about 14g of protein in a cup of tea everyday.

I use a beef protein isolate powder which dissolves in water and tastes of blue slushies. 30g of protein. I have it in the morning with my vitamins. I can’t bear the texture of other ones and I hate smoothies so this has been the way to go. I assume the coffee one is the same but just tasteless? I see loads of people drinking protein coffees on IG so it’s certainly a thing.

I use the my protein diet whey. It's their low sugar low fat one. I could only find it in vanilla, but I drink iced coffee and it works well. I just used freeze dried coffee made up in a small amount of boiling water, poured over a load of ice and add the protein shake made up with less milk than norma. Obviously adjust amounts to your taste, but i like it. Like an iced vanilla latte it tastes pretty good!

I throw an espresso into my protein shake (my protein impact whey isolate) before doing strength training 4 times a week and have Greek yogurt with added protein powder within 30 mins of finishing my workout. All on the advice of Stacy Sims. I’ve lost a lot of weight, an fitter, healthier than every before.

Thanks all!

CharlotteSometimes1 do you like the vanilla? I’m currently reading her book.

I don't see the point, I'm lifting weights twice a week, not Charles Atlas, and have good muscle tone from protein in my diet. I can't see that an ultra processed coffee would help in any way.

I have the chocolate flavour, which I love but I do have a sweet tooth.

Bananaramram · 10/04/2025 08:11

See I would love to do protein coffee but I only ever see it iced and I don’t do iced coffee. If anyone has recs for hot protein coffee, please share!

LegalAlienated · 10/04/2025 08:33

I bought a coffee flavoured protein powder (has actual coffee in it). I don’t like cold drinks in the morning, the taste of this is not bad but I think it needs a blender as it gets clumps from just hot water and shaker.

everycowandagain · 10/04/2025 11:23

Hot water tends to make protein powder go claggy and horrible. DH usually makes a tepid protein coffee and gradually warms it in the microwave so it doesn't clump. Works for hot chocolate too.

I throw it in an iced coffee myself!

I agree. I was under the impression that most of us eat enough protein without highly processed supplements.

I’ve replaced my normal cereal with a Protein shake about 5 years ago as I think it helps me digest the food from the day before but by 11 I need a bowl of cereal. It has reduced my bloating and I have it with my vitamins and collagen.

FatGirlLosing · 10/04/2025 13:39

I am a Stacy Sims evangelist, so yes. I lift (heavy) five times a week. The best part of MJ for me is that I can now see the muscles I’ve been building as they’re not covered in fat 😃

Listen to this from BBC Radio 4. They ask some experts whether protein powders are worth buying or whether they are marketing BS. https://overcast.fm/+AAQkLScOwK0

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 10/04/2025 16:18

I drink a protein coffee not to bulk up, but to help replace dietary sources of protein. I'm not good at eating breakfast, not hungry and not time, so this mid morning helps
