6 weeks into mounjaro, suddenly can’t eat

Hi all,

I am 6 weeks into my mounjaro journey and have lost 21lbs so far. Saturday evening I took my 2nd dose of 5mg and I have been really struggling to eat since. I am literally having to force myself to eat and a few times this has caused me to gag/boke. I have been making sure what I am eating is nutritious but now finding it so difficult to hit my protein goals.

Has anyone experienced this and have any tips to share?

I’m only on day 3 of my first jab but I’m already feeling like this, it’s so weird. Not actually got to the point of gagging but really having to force myself to eat as just don’t gee like it. Only managed about a third of my dinner this evening.

interested to hear others experiences with this and how to make sure I’m eating enough.

The medication builds up in your system so becomes progressively more effective over the first 4 weeks of any dose. Have a look at a glp1 plotter to help you understand.

If you are struggling to eat, try meal replacement shakes or maybe several small snacks meals over the course of the day.

I had about two/three weeks like this on 5mg.

I had absolutely resigned myself that I was stopping the jabs. It didn't feel remotely healthy, I was becoming physically ravenous but unable to eat much at all without feeling sick, I was well and truly fed up! It was at the point even the thought of food was making me feel ill.

No tips at all but... it just suddenly passed! I am still not eating a lot but I am actually eating and back to enjoying food. Albeit very, very "clean" dishes.

No advice as such but just to let you know i have had similar and it has passed.

Go back to 2.5 mg. Clearly 5 mg is too high a dose for your body, at least right now.

The sweet spot with any medicine is to take the minimum dose that gives maximum benefit with minimal side effects.

As you were losing so much weight at 2.5
mg, it’s not clear why you increased your dose.

That's how it works. I make a meal because I'm hungry, sit down and can't eat it. A lot of it goes in the bin. On really bad days I just drink protein shakes.
