Anyone use Mounjaro when on methotrexate?

I’ve been using Mounjaro for a few weeks and having great results. My mum is wanting to try it. She has osteoarthritis and is having increased pain in her joints, is struggling to loss weight due to inability to exercise due to pain and thinks losing weight would help with pressure on her joints. She also has psoriatic arthritis and takes methotrexate. I’ve looked on the BNF and online and can’t see any contraindications between the two drugs but wondered if anyone is taking both and has had any issues. I’ve told her she should discuss it with her rheumatologist before going ahead but she’s worried they will be unsupportive.

I do. Not seen any issues.
I didn’t discuss it with my rheumatologist though so don’t take my advice from a medical perspective. Just so far I’ve not had any issues, and I looked online at the medications it interacts with and it didn’t flag anything.

Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if she’s up for discussing it with her medical team to be honest. She’s found them quite dismissive and thinks she will be scolded and told to have more will power, as if it’s that easy! Yeah I’ve looked on line and can’t see any contraindications infact GPL-1s seem to be having positive effects on people with arthritic conditions.

i was asked on the medical questionnaire if I was on oral methotrexate, I do injections and have had no issues. I was on oral a few years ago but moved because of upset stomach side effects.

Yeah I’m on injections too, so far I’ve been feeling pretty well. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have spent years in hell with flares, was really appealing to me that people had reported inflammation improved. So far so good.
I also take a biological treatment too.

I went to GP today for an unrelated matter, and medexpress had notified my GP, and they just said ‘are you on Mounjaro’ I said yes, she asked if I had any issues or worries, I said no. And she just said OK …

I'd be wary. Purely because my Mum was on Methotrexate and, because of the digestive issues it caused her, is now skin and bone and a shell of herself. You just never know how your body will react and how you can end up in a worse position from where you started. It's ironic, she always wished herself thin and says how she struggled to lose weight, then over the course of a year ever inch of fat and muscle disappeared from her.
I wish I had my mum back how she was, she looked much healthier.

I'm sure slow and steady your Mum could tweak a few things in her diet and try to incorporate a bit of gentle exercise like walking or swimming.

Ive PSA on Metoject 20mg weekly ,wondered how you got on with Mounjaro ,side effects ,or ?

Hi, my mums been taking Mounjaro for 2 months while on oral methotrexate 25mg weekly. She discussed with her provider and has also advised her medical team who were happy for her to continue. She has had no side effects at all and has lost 17lbs. She’s very happy with the results.

I have been on methotrextrate for the last year I have recently started Mourjano and it has really helped with my inflammation and pain to the point I am only taking my meth injection every 2 weeks
