Is there anywhere that will do the injections?

I am toying with the idea of trying injections. My BMI is 30 and I have been struggling to lose the weight. But I hate injecting myself. I had to inject myself a couple of times after my c-section years ago and it really freaked me out.

Is there anywhere like Boots or Superdrug where they would order the injections and do the injections? I am OK with injections if someone else is doing them and I can look away.

DH is even more squeamish than me so I know he couldn't help.

This might be a stupid question but I thought I would ask.

Could you ask a friend? I don’t like needles either. I’m sure once you’ve done it once or twice it’ll be fine.

I injected in top right of stomach BUT I just looked at the other thread on bruising and I did pinch a big pinch of flab and just close my eyes and hold the plunger down and count to 10.

So next time is lower stomach and a delicate press! And now I know it doesn’t hurt AT ALL - I braced myself and really didn’t need to!

What I WILL say about injecting, as I don’t like it much myself, is to not push the needle in too hard, just the plunger. Otherwise the site will look like this. Makes me feel ill just looking at it and that may be my suppression!

Well that's probably finished the OP's chances of doing this. This will not happen to the vast majority of people, even if they push too hard.

I have never bruised and I have done 38 injections now. You don't need to pinch any skin, you can be gentle and slow, no need for hard pushing or anything like that.

Why on earth would anyone post that pic on a thread of someone scared of injections?!

OP there is a beautician's near where I live (south Yorkshire) who administers the injections for you- at a massively inflated cost though. I presume the same service exists elsewhere.

SilenceInside · 21/03/2025 16:42

@sweetpickle2who at a beauticians is qualified to prescribe and administer these injections? I’d be very concerned whether they were legitimately prescribing and even if the medication was legitimate.

AmateurNoun · 21/03/2025 16:45

I don't mind the photo actually. It's more about putting the needles in myself that bothers me.

I'm still on the fence though because I know that I have got to a healthy weight before and think I could do it again without this, although dieting does normally completely have to dominate my life to get me to stick with it if you know what I mean....

If it was the anti clot stuff you had to I ject yourself with previously (that stung like hell) then I promise you this is NOTHING like that.

Incredibly fine, short needle that you can barely feel, if you even feel it at all, and it doesn't sting.

Edited

I second this, it is nothing like those injections which are horrendous! You can't really feel the injection and the needle is tiny.

CoastalCalm · 21/03/2025 19:26

My friend has been struggling with this for weeks and despite many assurances just couldn’t bring herself to do it , got a message saying she couldn’t even feel the needle going in and felt ridiculous for making a fuss

AmateurNoun · 21/03/2025 19:55

Hmm. My weight first thing in the morning is actually a pound shy of BMI 30. Do I use my weight during the day? Or do I just give up on this and try the old-fashioned way again 🤔

One reason I’m doing this is that with the medication I don’t need to put huge mental pressure on myself. It just alters my brain chemistry so I don’t feel like eating unhealthy food or too much.

AmateurNoun · 23/03/2025 18:04

OK I am taking the plunge and just ordered some. My weight during the day is over so that should be fine.

I really just want to back to BMI 24 and am sick of being this big!

I do mine and my friends' jabs as she's scared. Another friend gets her husband to do hers.

Any pals ypu could buddy up with?
