Or does it matter?

I went with Mounjaro purely because I had some friends who’d been on it and had done really well! It’s slightly more expensive than others but in the blurb on the websites it says users typically lose more weight with Mounjaro than Wegovy. Saying that, I have a friend on Wegovy and she’s had some dreadful side effects but her losses have been good.

I was too and I went back and forth but I bit the bullet last week and did my first jab on Friday evening. I’ve spent the last 14 years obese and losing and gaining back the same 2 stone so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m 44, perimenopausal and desperate!

@QueenBing I did my first MJ jab on Friday evening too! The rest of your post is also the same as me :-)

They asked me to submit different photos because they couldn’t see if I was fat enough (obviously in a nicer way!) but then i had the injections within 2 days once they approved my bulk. My BMI is 33.5 so I know I looked fat, I couldn’t have looked anything else!!

Good luck! How are you finding it so far? I’m feeling so full all the time, haven’t felt hungry once and haven’t really had any nasty side effects apart from being a bit thirstier than usual.

I did a bit of research and Mounjaro seemed to have the better results.
I'm enjoying not being desperate for wine at the end of the day but I'm not losing much. Some days are better than others in terms of food noise but it's noticeably lessened.

No side effects yet……. I can’t decide if my hungers gone or not, which even sounds strange to me. I think it has but still keep thinking about junk food, but if I had it in front of me I don’t think I’d want it 🤷🏻‍♀️. I am sooooo cold though 🥶

I am also freezing cold, I’ve spent today in my oodie! We were out last night with a couple of friends and all I could manage was a small 8” pizza, a Pepsi max and a lime and soda. Earlier in the day I’d been to the gym and usually that makes me ravenous but I felt no hunger at all. I need to watch it because I haven’t had anywhere near enough calories yesterday or today.

I did my first weigh in this morning and I’m 4kg down! Obviously a lot of water weight, but I’m over the moon!

Can I jump on this thread? I am in a similar boat. I am losing 1.5 - 2 stone and putting it on again, I’m quite compulsive around food and need some help. I have a BMI of around 29 and am nervous about getting it prescribed - some info says you need medical reasons if under 30 BMI. I very well could have pre diabetes and high blood pressure (BP was high at a work medical recently). I have a lot of shame around my weight and don’t want to go to the GP.

I am horrified I might have to send pictures, I spend my whole life avoiding the camera. Are these pictures unclothed?

DarkDarkNight · 21/03/2025 08:27

Wow QueenBing that’s amazing. It’s such a boost to get a good loss.

SilenceInside · 21/03/2025 09:43

@DarkDarkNight the pictures are of you in figure hugging clothes, not naked. I wore leggings and a tight t shirt. Black or dark colours also don't help. You are aiming for the least flattering picture, which clearly shows the weight on you.

For a weight related health condition, I'm not sure a one off high BP reading would be enough to say that you have high BP. Similarly for the possible pre-diabetes, it's a possibility at the moment, not confirmed by any blood tests or whatever.

You’ll have to complete a medical questionnaire and you never know, they might be willing to prescribe. I went through Zava and had to submit a picture of myself on the scales holding a piece of paper with the date written on it, then 2 further photos in tight clothing, one from the front and one from the side. My first photos were rejected because I had leggings and a black t shirt on (imo I still looked fat) so I sent more in my leggings and a sports bra then it was approved.
