Fowl taste in mouth

lovealongbath · 16/03/2025 10:07

I am on week 17, 10 weeks on 2.5 mg and 7 weeks on 3 mg.

From the beginning, I have had a fowl taste in my mouth which also makes my breath smell. It’s absolutely disgusting.
Anyone else experiencing this and any tips apart from mints, mouthwash, peppermint tea, as none of these are working.

My dog has a sweeter smelling breath than me and he licks his butt & balls.

I'd recommend eating less chicken.

When was your last dose of turkey?

TourangaLeila · 16/03/2025 10:11

On a serious note @lovealongbath are you drinking enough water? Mounjaro can cause dry mouth which can lead to bad breath.

SilenceInside · 16/03/2025 10:12

I don't get a foul taste from taking Mounjaro, so not sure what to suggest, other than what you've already tried. Has the bad breath been confirmed by someone else?

lovealongbath · 16/03/2025 10:13

Omg, it took me a minute…PML

I actually own fancy fowl. 🐓 🦚 🦆

I don’t think I can edit spelling but hey ho!

Yes, my grandson said I had dog breath!

Bless you, OP. I’d report your thread to MN to get your thread title changed otherwise you’ll be getting chicken-based puns till the end of time.

It made me laugh, if it brightens up someone’s day then I will take it 😊

Drink loads of water and make sure you are eating enough

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 16/03/2025 11:24

Could you be in ketosis? That causes a very distinctive breath smell in many people. You can use keto sticks that you wee on to confirm. Increasing your water intake will help.

It could also be a coincidence rather than a direct side effect. Have you had a sinus infection recently? Are you prone to tonsil stones?

The typo made me smile. 🐔🦃

If you have significantly increased the amount of protein you're eating then it could be that.

Acid reflux is very common on this medication and can cause an unpleasant taste in the mouth / bad breath.

Alternatively, it might be undigested food releasing unpleasant gases while it's sitting in your stomach for longer. If so then a probiotic might help?
