Starting tomorrow- shopping list. Anything to help side effects?

I have a shopping delivery coming tomorrow evening and have ordered plenty of healthy stuff that I like, low fat greek yogurt, berries, fruit, chicken and veg, eggs, protein bars.

I'm wondering if there's anything I can add to help with potential side effects?

Peppermint tea

Ginger is great for nausea, bloating or GI issues. I tend to buy the ginger shots, aldi do a cheap version. Some energy tablets will help if you have fluid loss due to diarrhoea or vomiting, or headaches. I'd advise drinking lots of water, sugar free squash helps the taste. Aim for more protein and less carbs. Tracking food and calories can help you keep on track. Some people are triggered by heavy carbs, half a pizza made me very ill. Eat little and often to keep blood sugars steady and avoid getting bulked up with big meals. A good a-z multivitamin should cover your nutritional requirements especially with a smaller appetite. Im 5 months in, rarely have side effects. Good luck!

Thank you!! I will look for the ginger shots. I have sone vitamins that I've Bern "meaning to taje" so will put those out so I can't forget.

I usually drink plenty but have really struggled recently, might get a 2 litre jug for the fridge so I know I'm drinking enough.

I do enjoy lowish carb, and don't like pizza 😂

I use a water filter jug and water bottles to help me drink. Some people struggle to sleep on mounjaro, so I use a high strength vitamin D on an evening which works well. Take it easy and if you struggle to eat, eat more on the days when it wears off, after day 5. Try to avoid alcohol too. I've literally had a handful of minor side effects, usually due to food choices, and I'm on 10mg. A lot of people feel cold on it too, so make sure you layer up and use blankets. I have an electric blanket on my sofa that I lay on! Staying hydrated is important as the few users who experience serious side effects like kidney and pancreas issues, is due to severe dehydration. Aiming for 2 litres including hot drinks should help.

Prune juice and prunes as you might get constipated.

I bought some things to help deal with constipation and diarrhea, I had some anti sickness tablets from a previous issue before Mounjaro, but I haven't needed to use any of them. If you have someone who can pop out for you if the side effects are unmanageable I wouldn't bother. Or if you are out and about a lot get some Imodium instants just in case.

I used to only drink very chilled water, but as I have been trying to up my fluid intake I have found room temperature water is much easier to drink more of.

Pepto bismol. It tastes absolutely vile but is brilliant for any nausea, upset stomach feelings and sulphur burps.

The side effects are the important bit! Feeling sick when you've eaten past the point of fullness is supposed to teach you not to do that! If you mask all the side effects, you're not going to learn the lesson

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 15/03/2025 15:19

@AndSoFinally I was thinking more vomiting snd constipation 😂
