Yikes - have I taken three or four doses from this Mounjaro pen?

I have recently started taking Mounjaro weekly, same day each week.

Unfortunately, due to two (faulty) pens in succession (one of which developed a fault after the first dose or so), I now cannot tell with my current pen whether I've taken three or four doses. (I can't tell by needle usage either as I have a surplus of needles due to pen replacement).

I've sent an online message to the provider, with photos - but in the meantime, wonder whether anyone can shed light on this?

That looks like a pen that has had 4 doses out of it. I’d recommend the Shotsy app - it keeps a record of your injections and you can add in an injection site and weight to track your progress.

PS Is the pen designed so, if I've already take the 4th dose, it won't twist any further? That would help me be sure? I can't see any markings on the pen - but then my eyesight isn't that great!

There are little bumps on the side of the glass. The pump moves up one each dose.

It does look like it's at the top one.

It looks like you've had 4 doses & there's the "golden dose" left.

Thanks, all. I've had a go at seeing what's there. The pen will twist two notches to priming position. But no further. And from what I can feel, I'm at the top notch. So looks like the pen is done (am not going to try to jail break the pen for a 5th dose)

Yep 4 doses out of that.. but why waste the leftover.. its expensive stuff.. get yourself some syringes and you will get another weeks worth out of that!.
it will still be in the 30 days if you have done 1 a week and you will definatly get a full dose, maybe even a little bit more..

Ive done the 5th dose on all my pens, 7 pens so far so 7 extra weeks worth saved myself probably £150, £200

@morbidcuriosity how do you extract the extra dose?

@goingtokickthisweightget yourself some syringes. 32g 4mm 1ml . I used uk medi website.. then pop the needle bit through the red end, draw up the liquid, them inject into yourself.. I was scared to do it, but did it and its fine..
It may sting a fraction more but no more than a pinch, honestly it's easy..
It will save you a lot of money getting 5 weeks out of a pen instead of 4..

0.6 ml or 60 on the syringe is a full dose.. you will prob get about 0.8 out, which will mean its a bit stronger.. but 0.6 is the official amount..

@ColdMounjaroChicki got it wrong.. 32g 6mm 1 ml . I forgot i couldnt find 4mm.. but the 6mm are fine they have purple caps on if that helps, I'll try do a link..

Some of the pens come with 4mm 5mm and 6mm . I think I would be cautious of 8mm but apparently that's fine too..

Just looked at mine and they are 8mm. So I was brave. Haha. It was so long ago I brought them .

I’d say you have only had three doses from that pen OP.

I hand only three doses and, when i wanted to inject my fourth one, i couldn't...the pen looked like yours. I used a syringe and used the Mounjaro left, but in some comments it's specified IT is not a full dose, so i'll inject tomorrow a dose from a new pen.

@TinaCristina you need to know how much was in the syringe before you injected it - did you check?! The remaining liquid is usually at least a full dose and often more, sometimes up to 1.5 doses worth. If you injected that today (?) and then you do another full dose tomorrow then that’s a huge amount more than a single full dose.

I’ve always had more than one full dose left. Up to about another 1m when a dose is 0.6

I wouldn't want to lower my dose...my weight loss has stoped these last few days, so i decided to increase the dose. The amount of liquid left was half of that thin syringe...so i'm sure it wasn't a full dose. Hopefully, i will be ok, without nausea and other side effects... @TinaCristina next time you use a syringe you need to check the exact amount and make sure you understand what dose you are doing. Don’t inject a full dose tomorrow, wait until next week as normal.

Not losing weight for a few days is normal, not a reason to increase your dose.
