On 10mg and put on 3 pounds

I've been on Mounjaro for 22 weeks now—no major side effects and I’ve lost 40 pounds, which is great! But over the last six weeks, the appetite suppression hasn’t been as strong. I have ADHD (unmedicated), so I wonder if that’s making food noise harder to manage? My BMI is still 40, and with the cost of this, I’m starting to question if it’s worth it. I also have hypothyroidism and I’m on HRT (life’s a dream, right? 😆). Has anyone else found it less effective over time? Would love to hear your thoughts!

What dose are you on? I stayed on 5mg for 2 months and 7.5mg for 3 months but moved up when food noise started to come back.
Unless you're already on 15mg you could try going up a dose.

@IsItSnowing thank you for your response - much appreciated. I am on 10mg (this will be my 2nd week on 10mg).

It's my biggest worry, the food noise coming back. I don't mind being hungry and I can stick to a diet without appetite suppresssion. But once that food noise gets going, I'm a complete mess. So I'm doing my best to keep it under control by going up the doses when it starts again.

Are you on Mounjaro too?

I'm on mounjaro and seem to have weeks like this (am having one at the moment and want to eat everything in sight!)
For me it's often related to hormones and my cycle.
I've never gained weight/stayed the same more than 1 week so over time am still losing albeit slowly.

So strange how the effectiveness seems to vary week to week.

You have stayed on lower doses which is fine but give you're still 2 jumps away from the full dose I wouldn't panic yet. Go up to 12.5 next month and see how you get on. The drug doesn't 'wear off' as far as I can tell - it's not like you can develop immunity to it over time.

Phew! I have felt that since I have gone up to 7.5mg, etc it has been more of a challenge. I need to think of this more long-term. Thank you for your responses. I often feel guilty for considering the higher doses.

Why??

Studyartic · 10/03/2025 15:58

I have no idea 😣

Same as previous poster my weight and appetite goes up week when I'm due on, unfortunately being peri menopausal I'm never quite sure when period is due , apart from the appetite which is a clear indicator and I can put a couple of lb on easily at this time

bugalugs45 · 10/03/2025 18:11

I'm also on 10mg, I whizzed through the doses increasing every month as honestly didn't realise you could stick at same if was working , but this is my second month on 10mg & food noise is def more than normal

Studyartic · 10/03/2025 18:48

@bugalugs45 This is me as well—I was due for my period last week, but it still hasn't arrived. The food noise had lessened for a while, but it's still there. I guess I'm a bit worried, as it's a significant monthly investment.

Maybe it’s your body adjusting? 40 lbs is a lot of weight to lose. Maybe getting hungry again whilst still on medication is your body saying hold on a minute, slow down, give me a bit more food or I need more time to adjust”

I’m just guessing here but sounds feasible?

So be patient?

Gettingbysomehow · 10/03/2025 18:54

I've just started 10mgs after being on 7.5 for a few months and I'm all bloated, horrible bloat. I look like a puffer fish I feel awful and even thinking of food makes me sick. I hope it gets better. It's not hormonal...I'm 63.

Agree!

@MidnightTapping thank you, that's a brilliant way of thinking about it all.
