Mounjaro/Painful Periods

Hi everyone, thought I’d pop a post up here for a bit of advice. I’m on month 3 of Mounjaro and it’s going well- 35lb down. I have PCOS so prior to starting Mounjaro my cycles were always irregular but fine to cope with when they did turn up. Since I’ve started the injections I’ve 3 consecutive cycles which is great however they are so painful to the point I’m doubled over in pain and popping painkillers every 4 hours, even through the night. My GP tells me it’s nothing to do with the Mounjaro but it seems too much of a coincidence! Has anyone experienced similar?

I started Mounjaro at the beginning of the year, I am on HRT and was also on contraceptive pill and having no periods.

Within days of starting, I started to bleed, lightly at first but after about three weeks was having continuous horrible very heavy bleeding and awful cramps, which are still ongoing. I have seen my GP who has taken me off the pill, and gave me a short course of Provera to give me a break from bleeding and to enable her to examine me, and I’ve now been referred for a scan. Provera has now run out so back to very heavy bleeding and cramps. GP could not feel anything untoward on examination but says a scan is required to be sure, but her view is that it is probably down to the Mounjaro, because as well as the HRT and pill, the Mounjaro is another hormone into the mix that has just thrown my body into chaos, and I’d been absolutely fine until starting the jab.

This has been the only downside for me, no other side effects apart from tiredness and dry mouth, and I’ve lost 2st 4lb so far.

So weird because MJ stopped my periods being painful! 6 months of manageable cycles and now I've been off it 2 months am back to having terrible ones again.
