I'm with you! I'm currently in my period and haven't lost anything this week, despite being about 3000 cals below my TDEE!

I'm hoping I'm holding lots of water!

murraymcgill · 02/03/2025 09:32

@Userblue hi I'm in the same position in 53 so shouldn't really have periods as I'm on HRT the last mo th I'm kinda going up a lb or down a lb nothing major and I've been bleeding on and off for the same time so I think it's hormones aswell

ToppleTops · 02/03/2025 10:24

Absolutely!

My period is one of the main reasons I only weight.myself.every 3 to 4 weeks. I always add weight during my period and loose it straight after.

Don't weight yourself the week before or the week of, your period.

Userblue · 02/03/2025 17:01

Well this makes me feel better - going to not weigh for the next few weeks. I’m sure it’s probably due to water retention

Happens to me too every month. Don't worry, it will move!

murraymcgill · 02/03/2025 17:06

Lost a lb today again

I always have a slow week before my period starts then drop the weight as soon as it does start.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water too, being dehydrated really slows down weight loss.

I've been losing weight since September and weigh daily because i like seeing the trends rather than chancing a monthly weigh in and picking the wrong day to do it. This is a graph showing my ups and downs, what's important is the overall trend line

Last weekend I lost pound and a half, had period this week gone and it’s half pound on. Both weeks I’ve done similar of 9 hours across the week spent exercising.

I’m actually seriously thinking of weighing monthly.

I’m sure the last period I put half a pound on then too.

Yes weight goes on due to water retention, I stated this morning and my tummy is also more bloated and soft. Luckily i weighed yesterday morning and hadn't put on anything but I am new on 10mg and it's really helping banishing inflammation. Last month I lost period weight at day 6 when it was all over, so I'm not weighing until then. Drinking water really does help with water retention.

sentfromiphoen · 02/03/2025 18:04

Yeah same boat here, but this is really my second period on MJ, so I know once it's over; I'll have a good loss like I did last month

WeAllHaveWings · 02/03/2025 18:16

It will be no different to previous diets/weightloss.

If you continue to weigh weekly you'll see a pattern before and after your period. Might also see a pattern of feeling more hungry as your body craves certain nutrients. I often wonder if this is what causes some women to up doses sooner than they need to.
