What has helped you when you’ve stalled?

How is everyone overcoming periods where your weight has stalled? I know it’s normal but just thinking of how I might be able to help myself.

Had jab six of Mounjaro on Friday (5mg), minimal side effects. I’m sleeping 8+ hours a day, hitting around 115 - 140 grams of protein, 2.5+ litres of water, and 1200-1400ish calories a day. I’ve been making myself get some steps in at lunch (always a downfall for me as I work from home and have a small flat), so averaging 8 - 9k steps a day now.

I train a minimum of five days a week, a mix of flexibility/contortion training, yoga, and aerial arts. I am rejoining a gym this week and will be reintroducing weight training this week, with an aim to go twice a week.

I’m five foot five, down to 101.1kg from 110.7kg (highest weight was 120ish).

Would appreciate advice! I realise I may just need to be patient.

What are you thinking of as a stall? If it is less than 4 weeks of no loss then patience is likely to be the key.

How long is the stall? When you’re used to the steady fall that can happen with Mounjaro a week or two of up and down the same lb can be exasperating. But it’s completely normal. I had several. The first I nearly expired from temper over it. The second, oh okay here we go again. The third, sanguine. But I now look back from goal at my weight loss graph and they’re barely noticeable blips.
It sounds as though you’re doing all the right things (well done!) so just stick at it. The stall will break.
That said if it’s been more than a month come back and tell us and I’m sure more advice will be forthcoming.

The simple answer is go up to 7.5mg if 5mg has stopped working. It's completely normal, every dose was like that for me, first two weeks better than weeks 3-4.

Sounds like you are doing the right things and sticking to a reasonable calorie deficit so I wouldn't change anything - wait it out.

Do you take measurements to see if shape is changing even though weight is staying steady for a couple of weeks?

Have you rechecked your TDEE to see how much you are still in calorie deficit over each week?

Glorybox2025 · 26/02/2025 13:00

If you've only been on 6 weeks then you haven't stalled. You need to be patient and reframe how you view the journey.

Cantbesure · 26/02/2025 17:13

You have lost over 20lbs in less than 6 weeks. That's over 3lbs a week.

aylis · 26/02/2025 17:54

I would thinking about increasing your calories, especially on the days you're working out. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but you can still maintain your calorie deficit and ensure your body is fuelled.

It's really only a stall if you have several weeks in a row of staying the same or gaining.

You're only 6 weeks in and seem to have lost a lot during that period so what are you classing as a "stall"?

If you had gone 3 weeks following the diet, water and exercise regime you have described and not lost any weight, then I'd suggest having a couple of days of eating closer to maintenance calories and resting, to see if it's water retention due to the exercise and your body just needing to recover.
