Is my constant nausea caused by Mounjaro?

I did 4 weeks on 2.5mg MJ and was absolutely fine. I had no side effects and not alot of suppression. I went up to 5mg 2 weeks ago and I have felt constantly sick since then, but i am managing to eat. Has anyone had similar? Should I stick with it or go down to 3.75mg? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Yes, probably! It will pass if you can stick it.

AnnaMagnani · 20/02/2025 10:39

Yes! You need to either reduce how much you eat or change what you eat or both.

I see it as MJ's message to me. Usually too big a portion or too fatty.

name1234noidea · 20/02/2025 11:15

Yes I felt sick constantly on it.

Summerhillsquare · 20/02/2025 11:23

Almost certainly. I found cutting right down on fatty food and sugar helps. You should build up some tolerance for the drug in time. Having said that, it's not for everyone sadly.

5 wasn’t great for me for 2 weeks, felt sick, by week 3 I was fine, and I’m happily on 10, and had no side effects since.

stick with it, going back will be problematic as you could struggle to move up again and your body tolerates.

Yep and mine was nothing to do with what I was eating as I’d wake up feeling sick and was unable to eat for a few days at a time, just picking on the tiniest things. I nearly gave up but after 4 days it subsided so I’d think ah okay I can do this. Next injection it would happen all over again. I have one more jab to go then unfortunately I’ve decided to stop. The sickness is way too much. Only 10lb down from start, just have everything crossed I can keep it off and keep going on my own.

I had this and moved back down a dose and it's helped. Obviously doesn't work if you're on the lowest dose.

Appreciate everyone has a different experience but the only time I’ve had any side effects are following eating the wrong thing. And to be fair with MJ I’ve very rarely felt like eating the wrong thing. It does put you off food in a good way, and stops you eating / craving.

Shmee1988 · 20/02/2025 20:03

I haven't really eaten anything that would be considered triggering for this. I eat pretty well, minimal during the day, lots of fruit, chicken, tuna, salad etc. I often have a decent sized dinner but definitely not over eating. I've found it relatively easy to stick to 1200 calories most days. I've not drunk alcohol or had more than a stick of chocolate. It just seems I've felt this horrible sickness, all day everyday since the day I started 5mg 😞

yeah, especially when moving up doses I've had phases of all day sickness, very similar to morning sickness. It does pass after a while on that dose though

Yes, that's it, exactly like morning sickness. That horrible nausea that's there all day, so strong you can't shake it. I am hoping it fades as I'm currently dreading my next jab, which is a shame

Could you try anti sickness tablets?

shrinkingthiswinter · 20/02/2025 22:17

I’ve felt sick since I went up to 5mg two weeks ago. It doesn’t help that I’ve had a bad cold. This week I injected 3.75 instead and I think I’ll stay there. 5 felt like too much.

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 20/02/2025 22:22

Yup. Both my 5mg doses have had me in bed for a day and rotten the next day. I am taking my third this weekend 😬.
For me I'm. Morbidly obese so this is stoll better than the alternative or surgery.

I've heard alot of people say that 5mg is the worst and people have felt sick and had all kinds of horrible side effects from it but as soon as they've moved to a.5mg they're okay again. I just dont see how this can be accurate but I've heard it from many people

It's perfectly true because the jump from 2.5mg to 5mg is the biggest one in absolute terms. It is the only point at which you double the dosage, ie a 100% increase. For comparison, 5mg to 7.5mg is only a 50% increase and 7.5mg to 10mg is a 33% increase.

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 26/02/2025 16:03

I hope this is the case for me! The 3rd 5mg dose wasn't as bad but I was still completely exhausted for the weekend.

I've opted to stay on 5mg for another month but I'm not having the big losses some have.

I hope going upto 7.5 isn't this bad for me. I am wondering if I just do react badly to increases 😬. I need to be on this for over a year so don't want to rush up to fast either as I need it to work a lot!
