Messed up the maths with Mounjaro

I have just finished my second 7.5 pen. The first gave me bad nausea and some vomiting for 48 hours for the first two doses, so I decided to increase to ten gradually on the second pen. Except, I did the maths wrong and have just taken my third dose of 11.25. I used an insulin syringe and took .9 (a full dose is .6) so not the 8.75 I'd intended.

I'll be starting my 10mg pen next week, so want to take one more dose at 11.25 before moving up to 12.5. Can someone please, please tell me how to get this out of a 10 pen first of all? And then, am I right in thinking 15 clicks on top of the full dose will give me 12.5?

Luckily, I've had no side effects from this stupid error, but I feel such an idiot 😞

OP would be on 15 mg now if they had followed the fastest possible official guidelines, and not taken the 5th dose out of every pen. I understand it that they have just taken their 24th dose.

Why would they drop down to 10 mg if they have no adverse side effects on 11.25 mg (which they are planning to stay on for 4 weeks in total before going up to 12.5 mg) and suppression was waning?

Doctors in the US skipped a standard dose for patients when there was a shortage of some doses e.g. put a patient straight on 12.5 mg from 7.5 mg rather than 10 mg if no 10 mg dose was available. Not ideal and increased risk of side effects, but they did it. I suspect that is one of the reasons why our pens can now administer sub doses.

10 is not much less than 11.25, and the main reason for suggesting it is that the OP has a 10mg pen. She's already made one large dosing error, so by just administering a normal full dose from the 10mg pen, that possibility is totally eliminated. Then she can just move onto a 12.5mg if necessary, again without needing to work out any different doses.

The difference between 11.25 and 12 isn't worth risking another bad calculation and the worry around it. Move up and use the pen as prescribed.

This time they checked their maths (by starting this thread) though. Admittedly just with randoms on the internet but even so...the likelihood of getting in wrong again is low. I think it is more sensible to stick with the 11.25 mg for another week and then go up to 12.5 mg.

Dose in clicks = (desired dose/standard dose) x 60

Dose in ml = (desired dose/standard dose) x 0.6

So, to get 11.25 mg out of a 10 mg pen = 11.25/10 x 0.6 = 0.675 ml = 0.68 ml (68 clicks).

to get 12.5 mg out of a 10 mg pen = 12.5/10 x 0.6 = 0.75 ml (75 clicks).

I've taken 35 doses so far on my journey - only 8 have been standard. My journey would've ended a long time ago if it wasn't for sub doses.

Maybe you should just use it as prescribed and then you won’t risk taking the wrong doses….

Thank you @SubDoser for your measured responses to my query and to others' comments, and for actually answering my question without judgement. I hope you get to your goal weight and that you manage to maintain it, with or without maintenance doses.

I won't be commenting again, but I hope that the rest of you manage to reach your goal weights too.
