New regs and med express

Anyone know if the new regs announced this week will.impact how we obtain mounjaro and other GLP1s from medexpress? Is there now a requirement for a video call? I think so far I've just sent a photo and filled in a form....

Will the new regs apply to new customers or existing ones?

Thanks to anyone who knows!

Well I don't think they're changing anything for existing customers at the moment. I ordered my 5th pen yesterday and it was prescribed today as normal with no issue.

On Facebook someone posted Medexpress stance and they said there ordering system was rigorous and hence there were to be no changes.

Email received today from MedExpress…..

You may have seen the recent news coverage about updated guidance for online weight loss prescriptions, and we know you might have questions. We want to reassure you that your treatment will continue without disruption.
What you need to know
Nothing changes for you right now. Your prescription will continue as usual—no extra steps, no delays.
We meet regulating standards. Regulators are tightening checks across the industry, but we’ve always taken patient safety seriously. In fact, we've set a high standard already by carefully reviewing every prescription to make sure it’s safe and right for you. Our processes remain fully compliant, and we proactively share prescribing information with your GP to keep them informed.
Looking ahead. Over time, we may introduce new tools to better help understand your medical history and keep you safe. For example, we might securely access a record of your past prescriptions to make more informed decisions about your care. But for now? Everything stays the same for you.
What this means for your next order
If you’re due a refill, there’s nothing extra you need to do.
If you're maintaining your weight loss results, you will not be penalised for reaching a healthy BMI.
Why this is a positive change
The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is strengthening safeguards across the industry—something we fully support. Patient safety has always been our top priority, and we already have robust prescription checks in place to ensure safe, effective care.
As always, your treatment remains our priority, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust.
The MedExpress Team

Thanks lovealongbath that's reassuring information.

I got a similar message from a different provider. I thought it was odd as they clearly aren’t following the guidelines that the report said they would need to - i.e independently verifying weight. Suits me though

This may be a temporary position for MedExpress. Their prescription system relies entirely on the honesty of the applicant. Whilst very convenient, it's not exactly rigorous.

I suspect that we will see much tighter regulations/ processes to ensure that regs are met, coming soon.
