Oushk Response To New Regulations

Sorry not to sure how to attach an image but received this email in the morning.

I am glad to see there is nothing too drastic which will impact orders as I am sure the regulatory body doesn’t expect anything overnight.

Also, easier for Oushk to implement changes as they already offer video consultations but other pharmacies will probably struggle.

We hope this email finds you well.

As you may have heard, there has been recent discussion about potential changes proposed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
surrounding the prescribing and supply of weight loss medications. We understand that the upcoming changes may feel overwhelming, but please rest assured that your safety will always be our top priority. Many of the recommended changes are already part of our current processes, so only
minimal adjustments will be needed to ensure full compliance.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
ALL CURRENT ORDERS WILL BE PROCESSED AS NORMAL WHILE WE WORK OUT THE FINAL DETAILS.

Our team is fully prepared to meet these new requirements while continuing to deliver the personalised, dependable care you've come to trust. We are committed to ensuring that this transition is smooth, with no disruption to the
high level of service you deserve. We also want to reassure you that these new regulations will not affect our current pricing or our dedication to long-term maintenance care. These medications are licensed for the treatment and management of obesity, and we will be here to support you throughout your journey, for as long as you
need.

YOUR HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND LONG-TERM SUCCESS REMAIN AT THE CORE
OF EVERYTHING WE DO, AND THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS
For now, there is no immediate change. You can continue ordering your medications and following your current dosing schedule as usual. Should any updates occur, we will notify you well in advance to ensure a smooth transition. If you have an order currently in place, rest assured that it will be processed without delay. We will continue to meet our standard processing and delivery
times so that you receive your medication as planned.

WHAT CHANGES MAY LOOK LIKE
The new requirements will possibly include:
• Two-Way_Consultations: Video consultations will be introduced for all patients at least once, providing a more thorough and personalised
assessment.
• Additional Image Uploads: You will be required to provide more frequent body images and weigh-ins, with the current date and your name visible
for verification. This will be requested every 3 months at least.
• Enhanced Medical Records: We will need more detailed information about your medical history to ensure safe and effective prescribing therefore we will need full consent to write to your GP and to access your medical
information if required.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND UNDERSTANDING AS WE IMPLEMENT THESE CHANGES TO PROTECT YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS IN THE MEANTIME, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO

Not very professionally written is it?

All pharmacies will have both similar and different challenges implementing the changes.

One thing that sticks out for me with Oushk is their glitchy website and inexperience with IT. Other pharmacies who have invested more in IT will be able to leverage this to support them for the new rules more quickly.

There will be some pharmacies that might struggle, others will just get on with it as they have the infrastructure and flexibility to move quickly, I don't think Oushk stands out from the crowd.

I am wondering what gp practices response will be to the extra work involved. Surely they will want paying for this?

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 07/02/2025 04:08

My GP explicitly replied to me when my pharmacy (not oushk) wrote to them to say their policy is not to share information and if they want a report they have to pay for it.

(was going to attach photo and remembered we can't!)

GPs will charge but hopefully the online consult with weight verifications is sufficient- cutting out the need for GPs to be involved.
