Hunger and suppression all over the place

Hi

I'm finding my mounjaro journey (I'm end of week 4) so all over the place!

One day I have good suppression and reduced food noise and feel positive, the next day I'm ravenously hungry, binging and feeling like it's not working.

I'm trying to get a better relationship with food, but my eating is all over the place right now from eating barely anything one day to binging the next.

Today I have been staaaarrrving hungry and already eaten breakfast plus 3 chocolate snack bars and some crackers and butter. I'm about to have lunch so I stop snacking and it's only 10:45am.

I was meant to wait til the weekend for my 5th dose and starting 5mg, but I've just given myself the first 5mg dose now because this hunger is so stressful and I want some suppression back!

Please tell me things even out a bit and the suppression is more long lasting as doses increases.

So far on 2.5mg I've only really had one or two days a week with noticeable suppression and reduced food noise. The rest of the time is like normal. I've had zero side effects so assume maybe I just need bigger doses for anything to happen.....

Yes it increases, I didn’t get full week suppression till I hit 10mg,

in hindsight 2,5 did very little, although I thought it did, 5 gave me some side effects but they passed after the second week, 7,5 was similar to 5, and now on 10, third week, I can fully understand what the drug does, and why my doctor said I would see a difference at the higher doses, it’s a different animal.

I can still eat, I get my macros and cals in, I don’t feel any side effects, but I’m not hungry, don’t think about it, and it lasts 7 days a week, so this will be the dose I stay at.

Oh thank you!

I have lost weight on 2.5mg but I think that's largely willpower and placebo! which is no doubt why I'm stuffing today - because basically I've just been on a normal diet and now the need for re-eating all those calories has kicked back in! I do think there's maybe some slight differences, because I have had suppression on one or two days and I've never had that in my life! But it doesn't last long!

I think I might be one who needs higher doses. Which is fine! I just need to be patient and hope the 5mg starts to do something. If not, I will just need to wait for the 7.5 and 10. I believe it will work eventually. And I have to remind myself this is not a race and in a years time I am sure I'll see a difference in my body, weight and health.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it has been reassuring.

Both on 2.5 mg and 5 mg my suppression has been quite limited. There were some days where I ate less (though still enjoyed my food) but other days I was quite hungry and ate a bit more. I lost weight slowly - over 2 month period just over half a stone. But it felt quite comfortable. However, losing any weight was a result for me as I find it almost impossible normally. And I didn’t want to rush it to the extent there were too many negative effects (the only one I had was constipation). At the same time I found it hard to be patient at times, but really patience is important I think to lose weight healthily.

ps. I’m still on 5 mg and will see how this third month goes before moving up again.

My suppression comes and goes throughout the week, if I don't eat much one day the next day I am noticeably hungrier. I work with it and a combination of MJ reducing calories some days, a some willpower/eating well but sensibly increasing calories other days keeps me within an overall weekly calorie deficit.

Thanks :)

I think I have just felt really sad today because I binged and started thinking 'even this isn't working', but I need to give it time and also remind myself I have lost weight and one day of bad eating won't offset that! Hopefully upping to 5mg will also help :)

Don’t worry I found that week the hardest too, most of us do. You’re just ready to move up. I didn’t do a bonus dose due to it, as I knew it would be pointless.
