Projectile vomit after 6 months on MJ??

TallGirl24 · 19/01/2025 13:44

I've been taking MJ since the end of July, slowly working up to 10mg with no side effects and steady weight loss. So far so good. 2 weeks ago I has terrible vomiting the day after injection. I assumed it was a stomach bug. The last injection was fine. This week, I have projectile vomited again the day after injection and felt dreadful all day.

It's my second 10mg pen, I had no issues with the first one. Has anyone else had this? I'm so disappointed after being on it for so long with no side effects! I'll have to stop if it continues because I've been completely incapacitated on the days I've had sickness. Can anyone advise?

Might be a dose too far, maybe count clicks to do 5mg (or whatever the lower dose down is) again for the rest of the pen.

Dairymilk99 · 19/01/2025 15:55

I had this yesterday! Third 10mg pen, been on MJ since may and never had any vomiting and was sick after trying to eat dinner. Have eaten today and seem ok but very strange as doesn’t seem like a reaction to the 10 as have been on it for a while. Interested if it will now happen after my next injection.

TallGirl24 · 19/01/2025 16:37

Good idea, I think I'll move down a dose next week and see what happens.

@Dairymilk99 was that the first time you had vomiting? Strange when it is so out the blue, glad it's not just me!

I had chronic diarrhoea when I moved up to 10. It was constant, watery and severe and lasted 3 days and all through the nights. I assumed it was a bug, but it happened after my next jab too, so I counted clicks and went back down to 7.5 for a few weeks. I then went back to 10, but it happened again!

Were you losing weight still on the lower doses?

Yes first vomiting I’ve had! Haven’t really had any nausea at all, I even did a month at 12.5 which I found the suppression too strong so moved back down but never had the vomiting before so will see how it goes when I inject again.

The weight loss had really slowed down on 7.5mg but 10 was working well. I'd already used a whole pen, including bonus dose, so the vomiting didn't start until week 6 on 10mg. Weird! Going back down to 7.5 next week and will try to be stricter with calorie counting.

Yes! I've been on 2.5mg since end Sept with barely any side effects. I'm still on 2.5mg when out of nowhere this has happened to me twice. I jab on Saturday and Monday start cramping then start with diarrhoea and then projectile vomiting with almost no warning. I thought it might be a bug but was suspicious it was the jab as I know a lot of people have d&v.

The following week was fine, no symptoms but the next week (last Sat) it happened again on the Monday. Symptoms fully gone within 12-15 hours both times.

I was planning on eating light things today and tomorrow and after next week's jab to see if that makes a difference. I find it bizarre though that I've been fine for 3 months and I haven't changed dose from 2.5mg yet this has happened.

Pyjamatimenow · 19/01/2025 21:32

Not vomiting but I got all the way to 3 weeks in on 15mg and I had the most unbelievable diarrhoea. My stomach noises were audible from across the room. My kids could hear it. I had to go back down to 12.5mg. It does build up in your system so you have to be careful

Pyjamatimenow · 19/01/2025 21:36

FYI counting the clicks doesn’t seem to work in the way you think it would. I counted the clicks to get 12.5 out of a 15mg pen and still had the eye of needle diarrhoea. It was only when I actually bought a new 12.5 mg pen I went back to being fine again. I asked the prescriber about counting clicks and they said they don’t advise it. I thought it was just to stop people trying to get longer out of pens but I think there might be more to it than that

TallGirl24 · 19/01/2025 22:04

Interesting to hear other similar stories! A good point about it building up in your system, I've seen a graph on here a few times showing how it spikes and builds up. Maybe I've just reached my limit. So hope I don't have to come off of it because it has changed my life.

Maybe if your stomach was still weak from last week's vomiting bug, it was too sensitive to the MJ jab

TallGirl24 · 20/01/2025 07:36

I had wondered about that too @BigSilly but it's hard to tell if it really was a stomach bug or just a reaction to the MJ. I don't inject again until the weekend so I'm going to lower the dose and see how I get on.

So I've gone back down to 7.5mg and currently stuck on the toilet for the second week in a row. It was all going so well and I'm worried that it just isn't agreeing with my body anymore.

Suppression and weight loss have reduced a lot since I went back to 7.5mg but I'm still having bad gastric symptoms the day after injection. I can't find much on Google about this, all the articles advice talk about getting side effects at the start and your body will adjust over time. My body is doing the opposite!

Any advice? I'll be devastated if I have to stop taking it, I feel like a new woman with the amount of weight I've lost.

I've moved up to 10 and feel absolutely awful. Not been sick but feel sick all the time and also feel really anxious which is horrible. Going back down to 7.5 I think as I was fine on that.

OldChairMan · 15/02/2025 10:01

You could book a video consultation with Dr Christian Winiger from Dr Online. They used to offer one-off consultations for people on MJ who had medical queries. Looks like it's now just a matter of booking a general consultation. He runs their WL service so sees MJ issues the whole time. I found it helpful.

Don't forget that even if you've gone back down to 7.5mg you still have a higher amount of mounjaro in your body from the 2 x 10mg you did. So that might still be too high of a dose that your body can't handle because of the half life.

AuntieDote · 15/02/2025 10:12

Happened to me (D&V) on 5mg, weirdly was ok for my first few 7.5 doses but then started again. Ruined so many occasions, was awful and I definitely hit the ‘I’d rather just be fat’ stage.

I stopped all together for a month then started back on 2.5, have very gradually inched up to 3.75 and all ok up to now, won’t be going higher. I also space the doses out to a little over a week between each one.

To be clear, doing it this way doesn’t give me the mega suppression/ lack of food noise that I had the first time round going up the doses. There’s a lot of will power required and progress is slower, but I don’t actually mind that - the smaller dose seems to be enough just to take the edge off ever so slightly so I’m actually capable of exercising a little ‘will power’ or whatever you want to call it, where I always felt so powerless before.

ChubbyMcChubfest · 15/02/2025 12:43

Give it a few more weeks if you can. I posted upthread that I was fine on 2.5mg for 3 months and then out of nowhere, diarrhoea and projectile vomiting for a 12-16 hour period started happening. I'm still taking 2.5mg and have just done 2 full weeks with no side effects, so I'm really hoping it was a blip and I'll be fine again for a few months at least. If you're still no better in a few weeks, maybe come off it. In the meantime, try peppermint tea, ginger for the nausea and speak to your provider about anti nausea medication they can prescribe.

That sounds terrible, hope it passes when you move back down a dose!

This is a good point, I had forgotten about this. I wonder what the best way around that would be, maybe delaying a few days or splitting the dose into 2 separate injections during the week maybe?

Edited

I'd be happy with a slower loss as long as I don't have to experience these side effects again!

Thanks, I crazily hadn't even thought about how to treat the side effects! I'm with MedExpress, I'm sure i can contact them about it.
