Suddenly getting skin reaction at injection site

I’ve just taken my 17th injection and all have been fine apart from the last 2. I’m on 5mg and for the last 2 injections, I’ve come out with a red, raised and very itchy area where I’ve injected. The first took and week to fully go away.

Im assuming it’s some kind of histamine response but why now suddenly??

im going to contact my prescriber for advice but wondered if anyone else has had the same?

I got it more when I moved supplier and they changed to a shorter needle length and brand. It was really bad and each one would be itchy for 10+ days and red for 3 weeks, so any any point I would have 3 visible injection sites visible.

I bought a box of my original needles and it wasn't as bad, still red but not itchy and cleared within 3-5 days.

I think I was having a reaction to their brand of needle design/coating.

I have seen other posts saying if you are using 4mm changing to a longer needle 6mm can help a bit to take the medication slightly further away from the sensitive skin layer and reduce the reaction.

@WeAllHaveWings thank you, you might be onto something there. I’ve changed provider which coincides with my last 2 injections! Interesting-I’ll try changing needles.

It was the BD viva 4mm needles (from Oushk) I reacted to, I tried their BD Viva 6mm and it was a little better, so I bought a box of 100 of the ones I had previously Novofine 6mm (from ZAVA) and it made a huge difference.

I've had this too for my last few jabs. And I also switched suppliers to Oushk 🤔 I'm doing my bonus dose next so that'll be interesting to see if I react to the needle I've bought for myself.
