Anyone taken a month off Mounjaro then restarted at 2.5mg?

I've been taking mounjaro since April last year. I had lost 4 stone but I've gained back a few pounds over Christmas. I've still got around 4 stone to lose to get to a healthy bmi .

I've been taking 15mg for the last 3 months but I feel like it isn't working anymore. I've binged over Christmas and can't seem to get back into the healthy habits that led to the 4 stone loss. I've also been feeling really anxious for the last few weeks so that combined with no weight loss has made me think I might need a break.

I don't think the anxiety has been caused by mounjaro (my life is very stressful at the moment) but it may not be helping and the fact it isn't working as it was is making me feel worse. I'm thinking of having a few weeks off then starting again at 2.5mg on 1st February. Has anyone got any experience of having a break from mounjaro then restarting? Did it kick start your weightloss again?

Me! I took a month off because I had the flu and went from 15mg to 2.5

Suppression is right back to where it was when I started. I was moving up the doses every month but my diabetic nurse said that really you can stay on the dose that works for suppression until it doesn't work anymore and lots of people find 5mg is absolutely perfect

Vitamin D should help with anxiety. I started a high strength oral spray a month ago and it resolved it and I'm sleeping like a baby after years of insomnia. It increases serotonin and melatonin. I stay on doses until suppression goes. I was on 5mg for 8 weeks.

Oh wow I have literally just posted this question and then saw this! Thank you! I am having the same issue. A month off - is that long enough to feel the effects again when you restart?

Yes. Eli lily says that if you have a break longer than 2 weeks you should re start at 2.5mg as it will all be out of your body.

Med express said I would be fine to go right back to 15mg but my diabetic nurse highly discouraged it. You'd go directly into all the side effects and you'd feel so unwell

Thanks!

@LocalHer0e thank you 😊 That's good to hear that it worked for you. I know it might not be the same for me but definitely worth a try.

@Mysticmaiden2024 that's interesting that you say that about vitamin D. I had blood tests in November which showed my vitamin D is low. I've been taking a multi vitamin with it in but I think I'll add a higher strength vitamin D supplement too. Its mostly situational anxiety but it could definitely help. Thank you.

@InkHeart2024 hope a break works for you

Hey, I just wanted to add for some people there is a link between anxiety and mounjaro. It can happen even if you've been on it for a long time (not saying this is the case for you, but worth keeping an eye on) x

Robotmonkey81 · 14/01/2025 09:33

@crumbsonmyface thank you. I think it's mostly my current circumstances but I have been wondering if the mounjaro is making it worse. I'm trying to get in at the doctors to discuss antidepressants.

Yes the vitamin D in a multi vitamin isn't enough to treat deficiency, its to maintain normal levels of vitamin D, in winter we need more. give it a go, let me know if it helps. I had a difficult situation today and calmly dealt with it, was very proud of myself.

What an interesting subject. I was wondering about that too as I was asked by my friend what is my plan for a life "after mounjaro". I am still probably a 1year if not more away from that 😅 but it made me wonder. I even considered getting a few spare pens just in case I fall off the wagon and will need something to get me back on track. Hopefully when I am done, more pharmacies will offer reasonably priced maintenance... in the meantime, it is great that someone mentioned 1 month off and suppression being back on🥳
