Your bmi is too low to be prescribed Mounjaro

HansHolbein · 13/01/2025 17:01

As you were told on your other thread, your BMI isn’t high enough to be legally prescribed this medication.

I was on wegovy, went on it January 2024 weighing nearly 13 stone, I’m now finishing my last pen, I have 2 shots left. I weigh 9 stone 10. Side affects were feeling sick for the first six months but I built up tolerance and no longer feel sick, occasional head aches for the first few days of having the injection.

There is a whole sub-forum in Weightloss about the pens. You will find lots of people to talk to there. I have lost 2 stone in 2 months so far, with very few side effects

hoarahloux · 13/01/2025 17:18

You will not be prescribed it with a BMI of 26. Please don't go to a beauty salon to get it either. They are not selling legitimate medication and you'll make yourself extremely ill. Lots of info available to you in the weight loss injections forum.

I've been on Wegovy since 1st September last year. So far I've lost 24 lbs, which I think is pretty good going, especially as I stopped taking it for 2 weeks over Christmas! My goal weight is 147 lbs,I'm 199 lbs at the moment,so a bit of a way to go yet. I started on the 0.25 mg for a month, then 0.5 mg for a month, then 1 mg which I've been on since the beginning of November. I was asked by the pharmacy I buy them from whether I wanted to go up to 1.7 mg,but as I'm losing OK on 1 mg,I opted to stay on it for now. Plus it's 60 quid cheaper than the 1.7 mg dose! As for side effects, the worst thing I've experienced is tiredness and lethargy. It comes and goes, not so bad on some days, other days I can't be bothered to do anything. I also felt mild nausea, but that was manageable by taking a travel sickness tablet (Kwells). The nausea passed after the first 2 months. I've never actually been sick, and haven't suffered diarrhoea or constipation like a lot of people do. No hair loss either.

You aren't eligible.
The pen doesn't melt fat, you need to restrict calories to get results.

Smallsalt · 13/01/2025 17:48

You aren't heavy enough to be prescribed it. And at your weight it shouldn't be easy to shift your excess pounds.

Is the required BMI 27-30 for prescription?

You need a BMI of 30 or over to be prescribed weight loss injections. Or, a BMI of 27 or over with at least one weight related health condition (eg high BP, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea etc), or a BMI of 27 or over whilst being one of a list of specific ethnicities where the category of obese starts at 27.

Snozzlemaid · 17/03/2025 22:40

You’re not obese so this isn’t something you should be considering. No legitimate pharmacy will prescribe to you and if you buy it illegally you won’t have a clue what you are injecting into yourself.
These are not drugs to lose a few pounds to make you look better. Those of us who take this medication do so to improve our health by reducing the multitude of illnesses obesity causes.
