I’m on the .25 dose at the moment and can’t get a .5 needle for love nor money. My pharmacist suggested that I could try injecting half measures of a 1 dose needle. Has anyone done this, and how? Thanks

Do you mean a syringe or a needle?

Ohh, it’s a pen thingy with a new needle for every injection.

If the pharmacy are suggesting you take a half dose from a 1mg pen, then they need to explain to you how to do this. They shouldn't be prescribing it to you without giving you clear instructions, preferably written down, on how to do this to make sure you know how to do the correct dose. People here can potentially advise, but the pharmacy are the ones prescribing it to you and have a duty of care to make sure you know what to do. Please go back to them and point this out to them.

Thank you for this very sensible advice. My pharmacist did in fact tell me to go back to my doctor for advice, which I am doing on Friday, but, in the meantime, I was casting around to hear of anyone who might have been able to share their experience.

It's done by counting clicks, i.e. if you know how many clicks the pen needs to reach a full dose you can twist it halfway. There are charts online showing how it works, if you google something like 'Ozempic 1mg click chart' you should get it.

You would need to buy extra needle heads as presumably you won't have enough in the box for 8 doses.

A full dose is 0.6ml of any of the strengths so you can get whatever you want and work it out from there. Use a syringe with a needle to extract the dose

@JessicaPeach are you talking about Mounjaro or Wegovy/Ozempic?

Mounjaro pens are 0.6ml, but I think Wegovy ones are a different volume.
