Relationships and weight loss / meds

I happened to notice elsewhere a woman had lost a lot of weight and her husband had left her as the 'weight didn't suit her'

I was kind of surprised and thought this was pretty unsupportive. Then I wondered how these meds had affected people's relationships in general, either with friends or family / partners.

My DH is generally supportive I guess, I think he prefers me thinner generally and was a bit concerned about my health when BMI was high. have yet to get thin though so will see how it goes.

Interesting question

I can't see any downsides for my relationship to be honest.

My long suffering husband will no longer be hearing "I'm so fat", "I hate my belly", and "diet starts tomorrow". So I'm sure he'll be pleased about that!

I also think he prefers me slimmer, though he's never ever said and always says I look nice (even when I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards!)

I also won't eat his chocolate or any of the food he buys for himself anymore!

And ... I will feel more confident to wear nice clothes, go swimming on holiday etc.. and be less irritable when going out and less nervous when socialising etc..

Pretty sure he'll prefer the new me

My husband is very supportive as I have high blood pressure and it was concerning him. So the weight loss and the bp reducing with it, is a positive.

in terms of appearance, I also think aesthetically he prefers me slimmer. But he’s never commented negatively and always been complimentary.

One thing I have noticed with WLI is a reduced libido. Having lost two stone, I’ve only been intimate with dp twice in 2/3 months.

I really can’t be bothered.

Oh mine increased, maybe as I have so much more energy, and feel I look better.

i do find it concerning so many women don’t tell their husbands, and hide their pens, I think there can seldom be a positive reason for that.

There is an article in this months Good Housekeeping written by a woman who is unable to orgasm on Mounjaro

In my relationship it has definetly improved it.

I am so much happier in myself and while DH says he loves me regardless I am more comfortable in myself now and that is ehat he comments on.

I have more energy, I am fitter and my sex drive has gone through the roof.

I lost a lot of weight 7 years ago (8 stone) and it gave me confidence to look at my relationship and realise I was being controlled by my ex husband and I needed to end it.

I'm part of a few gastric sleeve Facebook groups as I was considering it for a long time before starting mounjaro. It is very common on there for people (mostly women) to lose lots of weight and split up with a long term partner. Generally the reasons seem to be linked to changes in confidence and self esteem of the person who has lost the weight which either allows them to realise they don't need to fear leaving a relationship that's not working or the partner doesn't like that their partners self worth is no longer dependent on them and they end it (usually citing reasons along the lines of I don't find you attractive anymore to get one last undermine in).

From personal experience it's not all doom and gloom though, having lost almost 4 stone my confidence is through the roof and DH is delighted. I feel more up for us going out and socialising as well as wanting to do him the whole time as I love my body more now and happy to be naked and swinging from the chandeliers 🤣

I think as with many major life changes it will strengthen a good relationship and break a bad one.
