Change from wegovy to Mounties

I have lost 4 stones with wegovy but now on 2.4 mgs and really struggling to maintain the loss. I'm just about in a normal BMI.
I was wondering if anyone else had stopped Wegovy taken a short break I think a month is required then started mountjaro?

How did it work ?

I'm dithering about whether to try for another pen of Wegovy or cut my losses and make the change.

I did it and back again. You are supposed to have a month off and start at the lowest dose so quite a bit of time ‘wasted’ and in my case quite a bit of weight gained in the gaps. Everyone plateaus at some point and you don’t know if Mounjaro would take you lower - it might do - the stats are a bit better. For me I got on well with Mounjaro for about four months and then developed side effects I couldn’t get rid of so made the switch back with the accompanying weight gain again. Good luck.

Would you be able to get a new prescription for Mounjaro if you're at a healthy weight? Do you know if pharmacies will take into account your previous Wegovy prescription?

I have just changed (only had one injection so far). My provider said as long as I didn’t have any side effects from Wegovy I was good to change straight to Mounjaro on my next injection day.

If you’re at a normal BMI though I wouldn’t think you’d get a prescription?

Yes - that’s a good point. You would need to make a plan in advance with a pharmacy prepared to do this. My BMI was over 30 each time I started a new drug and my provider said that it would need to be in order to restart when I gave up Mounjaro. I wasn’t far below 30 when I stopped so it wasn’t a problem for me but if you have got down below 25 (well done by the way - amazing weight loss) then you need to be very careful.

I have been seeing an endocrinologist and he said there was no need for a break and moved me straight on to 10mg Mounjaro. I had no adverse effects doing so.

Thankyou for this what dose of Wegovy were you on?
Why did they move you?

Yes I'm so happy with my weight loss it has been literally life chant I've fractured my ankle and am currently practically immobile which is not helping at all

I was in 2.4mg Wegovy and moved to 10mg Mounjaro. I was quite happy on Wegovy but my doctor said I should be losing weight more quickly.

I’m now on 15mg of Mounjaro and the weight is falling off. I’ve lost 4.5st and my BMI has gone from 37 to 29. I’ve got about 1.5st left to lose and will worry about maintenance when I get there.

Sorry about your ankle. Wish you better.

Thankyou so glad you're finding it more helpful.
I've just applied for one more dose of Wegovy but think I may take a break and begin again .
