Where to buy injection needles for bonus dose

Hi my question is just that!
I don’t want to order on Amazon.
Where do I get these insulin injection needles/what should I ask the pharmacy for?

Lots of the online pharmacies sell them (I've just ordered some from 'UKMedi'. To be fair though I've used the Amazon ones and they were absolutely fine!

My GP prescribed them.when she prescribed my MJ. They came in a box of 100 so it will take me 2 years to get through them! I'm sure you can just buy them in a pharmacy.

Why not online?

Shops will likely need to order them in for you anyway as they're normally prescribed for insulin users.

You just ask for 1ml insulin needles

My local pharmacy sold me a bag of 10 for £2. I asked for insulin needles to use with mounjaro and there was no issue.

Ive just tried to get my bonus dose out tonight and broke the pen. Its worked for me 2 previous times. I'm off to buy some syringes for tomorrow.

Thanks very much, I’ll try the big boots and see if they have them. Yes I’ve never needed them before but this last pen has broken - I’ve read online this is a ‘thing’ now

What's a bonus dose?

I assumed that dose was fixed in pen

There is actually enough medication in each pen for 5 doses but the extra medication left in the pen after the 4th dose isn't intended for use as a 5th dose but as a buffer in case people accidentally waste some when prepping their pens during each dose. However people quickly realised that they could use this extra as another dose for week 5 thus saving money. But the pen doesn't twist anymore after you have completed the 4th dose so you have to get it to twist by using sheer force to get that 'bonus' dose out of it. It's not recommended by the manufacturers but lots of people including myself have done it.

Most high street chemists won't sell them as the only people asking historically were drug addicts. I might consider it if you had your prescription through my company or I could see it on your GP record, but otherwise would refuse.
And I know a lot of people are desperate to keep it off their GP records!!

Why are people keeping weight loss drugs off their medical record? That's nuts!

Surely it makes sense to tell your GP so they will recognise side effects for what they really are / have the info they need to help if any complications?

There's loads of threads about to how hide it, which supplier won't ask etc. No-one has given an actual solid reason, other than 'I don't want them to know'!

I’m also not sure why you don’t wish on line. And feel you will have a job explaining to the pharmacist you want to take a bonus dose from a wl pen. You could video that interaction and post it 😂

if you do end up buying on line, buy from a medical supplier, the ones on Amazon are not medical grade and generally for animals. Sterile yes, but not human grade,

I’m going to go to a pharmacy today and try to get some. I looked on Amazon but had no clue and the reviews were not encouraging.

I’ve always been able to ‘hard twist’ until the last 2 pens. Although you can twist with force, the plunger no longer works.
