New goal for 2025 - reduce body fat % - anyone with me?

2024 was the year of weight loss for me - I have lost 6 stone on Mounjaro and feel bloody fabulous.

However, DH bought me a smart scale for Christmas which measures all your other stats, and it has told me I have 33.3% body fat which is in the "too high" category

So, 2025 is going to be about increasing muscle mass, and reducing body fat, without increasing my weight.

Im going to start swimming which I hope will help, any tips for other activities for someone who absolutely bloody hates exercise?

How does the scale know that? I've always wondered!

Apparently it sends an electrical current up one leg and down the other! Who knew?!

I had to put my height and age etc into the app so it can calculate everything. It has given me lots of scary stats!

I have the same type of scales, don’t be surprised if you weight up to 5 pound different in any 24 / 48 /72 hour period. I only send my stats over to the app around once a fortnight other wise they would be up and down like a yoyo.

Interesting, thank you.

More exercise and strength training is definitely a target for me next year (after doing my back in dusting my skirting!).

I wouldn't track using home body fat scales as they are known to be widely inaccurate as they only send a current up one leg, across the pelvis and down the other and make a guesstimate based on your age, height, weight etc and our hard work might not be represented on them.

If you do lots of strength training on your middle/upper torso or above the scales are not going to see it!

I have similar scales but only use for weight and they are great for the app for logging, especially if you like daily logging.

I am not sure how I am going to do it yet, but hoping tape measurements, waist/height or waist/hip ratio, before/after photos are more representative of progress.

Ah ok fair enough.

It's my stomach I want to target mainly. It has the most flab since losing weight but to be honest a lot of it may be just lose skin. If I can get rid of the apron I will be happy!

Also want to tone my upper arms and get some shape back in my arse, it's as flat as a pancake!

What kind of scales is it if you don't mind sharing please? I need a new one too

Andtheworldwentwhite · 28/12/2024 06:38

Strength training. Cannot emphasise how important it is.

I don't trust those scales for body fat measurement at all. Mine shows 30% bodyfat and all other measurements are in the green including muscle mass. I've chosen to ignore it. I'm BMI 22 and won't go any lower.

I read that the home body fat scales vary quite a lot depending upon how hydrated you are.
