MJ wearing off - am I imagining this?!

I'm now on my 2nd 7.5mg done so been on it 8 weeks. Yesterday I had a massive binge 😔 way less than I'd usually have done, but am a bit disappointed in myself. Today is my injection day. Would it have worn off during the preceeding week? I'd have thought it would not wear off as I've had so many doses. This did happen a few weeks ago too. Was towards the end of the week and I found myself eating sweet stuff when usually my incredibly sweet tooth has been switched off entirely. Have no medical training so not sure how it all works 🤔 thanks

Lack of self control is more likely.

If you have the Shotsy app and pay for the premium service it will tell you how much is in your system, residually. I'm on week 11 and only on 3.75 and suppression is super high three days after the jab.

Yes, it wears off as you near injection day. Think of it as part of the learning curve. It takes a while to change eating habits. What happened to lead to a binge? That probably indicates you need to work on whatever that was.

It may mean you need to go up a level.

I don't think it wears off as it's building up in your system all the time. The idea is though that you inrease your dose each month. I injected my 10mg this morning. Yesterday I did eat three chocolates because they are there, nothing to do with the jab that's my lack of willpower.

Ah OK so it's not just me then!

Binge was caused by Xmas-related stress 😩
It was awful as the cause and effect were so obvious; food is my go-to if I'm stressed ( as well as unhappy, sad, tired). I'd had a difficult phonecall and just reached for the food.

Absolutely a lack of self control.

I think I will go up a notch in 2 weeks, unless I ask them to not send a higher dose (am with Voy)

The free GLP1 calculator website also allows you to input doses taken see your levels and how the medication concentration reduces over the week.

It is how the medication is designed to work and interesting to see but don't, as many reckless people do, use it as a guide to go off the 7 day dosing schedule without medical advice as you could do yourself harm.

Look into calorie cycling and how you can stay in calorie deficit over the full week, rather than just daily.

It doesn’t wear off when you’re on the right dose for uou. That’s not 7,5 op, so you’re still working your way up. It might be 10, it might be 15. It’s the one be,in the one you can’t tolerate, so if you can’t tolerate 12.5, then it’s 10, but you will know at 10 if that’s right for you, as it won’t wear off.

So something to work on in the coming months - what can you do instead of reach for food when you are under stress? You have identified an issue, just need to find an alternative strategy.

Don't beat yourself up about it, knowing where your squeaky bits are is half the battle. You are developing strategies for the rest of your life, so you have time to work it out.

Hi OP, yes, the medication peaks and troughs through the week. As the weeks go on it builds up more and more in your system, but it does get lower toward the later part of the week.

im on wegovy but heres a shot from my Shotsy app - you can see each peak as I inject each week and then the amount in my system lowering throughout the week

8 weeks and been on 7.5 for two weeks…. What? How did that happen?

MounjaroUser1233 · 25/12/2024 23:50

Apologies - I've been on it for 10 weeks. My first dose of the 7.5 was 8 weeks ago!! 4 weeks on 2.5, 4 weeks on 5, 2 weeks on 7.5. Time has flown by though, I can't believe it's been 2½ months!
