Why in fridge til opened, then fine after?

I'm just wondering- I'm not going to flout the rules- but does anyone know?!

Surely the norm would be for it to be fine out of the fridge til opened, then refrigerated once opened?!

Which one are you taking about?

Mounjaro can be out of the fridge for a total of 30 days. I remember reading that the manufacturer and stockists mustn’t use any of that allowance so it’s transported and stored at low temperatures.

The expiry dates are several months away usually, eg the end of 11/2025 so in order for the active ingredient not to degrade over several months it needs to be kept cold. So store in the fridge.

Once the seal is pierced on first use then there is the possibility of contamination as well as degradation, so the 30 day limit applies and it doesn't matter if it's in the fridge or not at that point.

The drug begins to degrade once its out of the fridge. So the drug remains intact enough to still be efficient only for 30 days. After that it degrades further and you could have reduced efficacy.

The reason you keep sealed stuff out until you open it is because things like jars of sauce and tins are sterilised at processing so no bacteria can grown in it. Once you open them the bacteria enter and start to grow. Refrigerating slows this process.
For MJ the vial remains sealed you only briefly pierce it. So there should be nothing getting into the vial to grow.

Yeah, it's Mounjaro I meant- sorry!

Ah that's really interesting- thank you all of you!

Just one of those things I've been pondering!
