Edit: I was supposed to add about swapping and changing

Andrea and I were talking about how we've both followed different paths with mounjaro. I've been swapping and changing pharmacies to all the lowest offers, she has stuck with her pharmacy since she started, and after looking through the Monj pharmacis list website, she was gobsmacked and said she's going to tentatively take the leap to someone new.
Am I an odd one for just jumping ship all the time?

I have changed once, I started with one of the cheapest at the time, bought a 2 pen starter pack, the parcel arrived with little notice of what day it would arrive and it was no longer chilled.

Changed to a supplier that allowed me to pick a delivery date and courier instead and subsequent 4 deliveries have arrived on the date I wanted and nicely chilled. It is a little more expensive than the cheapest (perhaps £10-£15) but that is ok for me.

The hassle of new consultations/getting approvals, not knowing when the parcel is going to arrive, or having to get referrals to get discounts is not worth saving £10-£15 to me. I plan to stick where I am unless something significant happens to make me want to move (uncorrected issues, significant price hike etc.)

Nothing wrong with either sticking or changing. One thing to watch out for is how the prescribing governance might change over time especially for changing to a new supplier as you get close to a <30 BMI and/or maintenance.

I don’t think you are odd at all! In fact, to me it seems most people pharmacy hop looking for best prices and those who stay with one are much fewer.

I am on my third pharmacy and still seeking the ‘right one’! I haven’t chased cheap prices but also don’t want to be a mug and pay £100 per pen more than I need to! Pretty sure Wings and I are with the same one right now but I am thinking of moving due to the new requirement to fill out a full ‘first timer’ consultation form every time and (more so!) because of the loonies in their FB group who drive me INSANE (yes, I know I could leave but the lives are very good!).

Anyway, enough of my ranting 😁 No, you are not odd!

morbidcuriosity · 19/12/2024 20:11

I've swapped, use 3 different ones, and I'm going to use a new one again for my next pen . But after that I'm going to have to go to one I can choose a delivery date, as so far I've been lucky but I'm not always home so tricky for guessing when it will be delivered.. but I'm going for 1 last cheap chase to try get it delivered when I have a week off work early Jan..

lespameo · 19/12/2024 20:18

I've been on mounjaro since end of sept and have pens stored to last me into March. Worked out its cost me £84 a month based on shopping around/ finding discounts plus 2 x referral discounts. Anyone who doesn't shop around has money to burn!!!

Think I'm with the same provider because YES that FB group is just insanely annoying! 😁 It's like everything that's annoying about humanity rolled up in one place.

I've swapped a couple of times and am ordering from Oushk plus IQ Doctor at the moment and am slightly stockpiling pens. I haven't been able to resist the £130 10mg pen price at IQ but don't want to leave Oushk completely because - maintenance uncertainty elsewhere.

I thought I'd stick with the same provider and that I wouldn't move around, but actually it was really easy to do. Having said that I've steered clear of anywhere that uses referral codes as they drive me mad.

Doggymummar · 19/12/2024 20:46

I've been with Chequp from day 1. I don't see the point in swapping

OvaHere · 19/12/2024 20:58

I've stayed with Voy so far who I think are the most expensive and I don't use the bonus dose. 😂
<dons tin hat>

I like them and don't have any complaints. I can move delivery dates as suits and have never had a late order so far. I also like my coach, not sure I really need one but it's nice to have someone on the other end of what's app to bounce thoughts off.

I wanted this to be as low hassle as possible because I don't stick with stuff that become burdensome. I can also afford it so cheapest price isn't my highest priority.

That said I am considering my options for the new year as I need to think about maintenance more seriously and what I'm going to do about that.

Redlightbulb · 19/12/2024 21:19

I changed once to a provider that is about 2 or 3 pharmacies from the lowest price point. They regularly have discounts so I am not chopping and changing all the time.
I would change again if need be but the price difference is immaterial atm.
Although this provider requires a new photo each month which is annoying and a bit OTT

Have you just told each pharmacy you are just starting out?

Med express wouldn't let me buy a new 7.5 pen as I have not ordered for a while and they want me to go back to 2.5.
I have not been having the full 7.5 dose and doing every other week

So now I am stuck

I started with Chequp and was really impressed initially.
I had an appointment with a nutritionist who gave me excellent diet advice and there was a person on customer service who was brilliant, replied quickly, sorted things out, etc. After about 4-5 months the names all changed on the emails and I had an issue with their website which the "new names" really did not deal with efficiently and the nutritionist had left and was replaced with motivational coaches.
At that point I decided to go with a more basic service so moved to an online pharmacy. It is one of the smaller ones but is reasonably priced, always contactable by phone or email, very professional and delivers promptly

How can you plan ahead to March? That's 4 months, what if you need a dose change?

bicky · 20/12/2024 00:18

Where is the cheapest / best place to order from if your a first timer ?

lespameo · 20/12/2024 11:28

@Sunshineandrainbow no I've just provided my email order confirmations to the new provider to prove I'm already taking the medication. Had no issues at all, just a couple of emails before they prescribe it.

@QueenOfHiraeth I've got 2 x 5mg pens and 1 x 7.5mg pen in the fridge. I'm on 5mg now and it's working fine so won't be moving up to 7.5 I don't think, I'll just reduce the clicks and stay at 5. I have 1.5 stone left to go and hope to achieve that by March.

SilenceInside · 20/12/2024 11:34

@cloudymumma I'm just curious who Andrea is...?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/12/2024 12:01

@Cheesemas stop spamming threads with your medex code! There is a dedicated thread for them and this is NOT it! You are also plugging a provider that has customers leaving in droves because of the crap they have pulled recently! 😡

WeAllHaveWings · 20/12/2024 12:03

ZAVA just sent an email raising their referral scheme from 15% / up to £30 to 25% / up to £40 off so they might be busy in the New Year with people changing!

@Cheesemas you are not allow to share referral codes anywhere other than the main referral code, MN will delete your post.

I would jump ship when needed but I stayed with my provider due to getting a good price match offer at the time (offer doesn’t exist now so you can guess which company!).

If they don’t sort out their offers and someone else is cheaper I will move! I live a bargain and can’t help myself!

MJconfessions · 09/01/2025 23:40

I did the entirety of my journey on MedExpress - I have only used them to date & am around 90% done. I have around 7kg to go to my ultimate goal but my BMI is already healthy. So the majority of my overall journey has been with them too, even if I switch.

I’m glad I stuck with the same provider to date for continuity purposes as opposed to cost. It seems a lot harder to find a provider for maintenance and many support their existing patients differently to new patients that have been elsewhere.

I haven’t had a bad experience with medexpress and I haven’t had a reason to change until now. I’m just worried about their BMI cut-off, which seems to go against the concept of maintenance. I want to reach BMI 21 and then maintain that, but doesn’t seem to be possible anymore with medexpress.
