The day after the day after the mounjaro

Today is Monday and I took my first dose of mounjaro on Saturday afternoon.

Last night, I felt horrendous and barely slept. I was extremely gassy and my stomach gurgled all night. Felt like I needed the loo this morning and had the worst diarrhea I've ever experienced. Had another episode of this before leaving the house for the school run.

I worked from home this morning and felt pretty good. I felt so good in fact I went on a lunch time walk. About 20 mins from home, my stomach started gurgling. I managed to run home and get to the toilet but only just.

I know I need to give it some time before deciding next steps but does anyone have any tips for managing these side effects? I've read lots about what not to eat but have very few ideas of what I should be eating. The eggy burps have subsided a bit. I'm meant to be going for a Christmas lunch with my little team tomorrow at work but surely this is a disaster waiting to happen?

Also, is it likely that I'm best staying on this low dose for as long as possible? I can't possibly imagine the increase and how that would affect me.

I wouldn't worry about dose yet, you've got another 3 weeks before you need to decide which pen to order next so plenty of time to see if it settles.

For what to eat now, go for low Fat, plain food in small portions, little and often. Still go and enjoy your work night out, just order something light and don't worry if you don't finish it, just enjoy the company.

It's very early to be worrying about whether to increase to 5mg, as that's a month away. You've got time to see how it all settles down.

In terms of what to eat, I prioritise protein first in any meal and tend to eat minimal or no white carbs and nothing fatty or sugary. Green leafy veg, other low carb veg would be the next priority. I'm vegetarian so what that looks like for me won't be the same as for you. At a Christmas lunch recently I had a small bowl of soup as a starter because it was not high carb or high fat. Didn't have any bread. Then I ate the protein part of the main, plus the non-starchy veg but left all but one taste of the roast potatoes. Didn't have a dessert and drank sparkling water.

What sort of things have you been eating over the last couple of days?

Nothing too fatty, carby or sugary, eat clean. Lean protein, veg, without fats, salads, without fats.

So the last couple of days I've been eating/ drinking chicken, fish, mash, carrots, oranges, bananas, dry toast, green yoghurt, a couple of quality street, protein fruit smoothie and peppermint tea. I mainly feel ok today but have had to rush off to the toilet about 4 times.

I'm feeling a bit less hungry than usual which is a positive..
