Do side effects last for a couple of days?

Or can they last for a week?

I could take my first dose today, and would like to get started, but am due to go away for a few days from Sunday afternoon - Wednesday. From what I’ve read, side effects seem to last for a couple of days so I should be okay on Sunday.. or is it just too much of a risk and I should put on hold until I come back?

Everyone is different! You might not get any at all.

Side effects can come on at any point tbh. They might start after your jab or come on 6 months down the line. They could last for a few hours or be continuous.

Not helpful at all I know but it’s completely up to you. I would just start but you’ll get loads of advice to leave it😁

I am feeling impatient to get going ! I don’t mind a bit of nausea but I don’t like the idea of running off to find toilets all the time, or having an accident in a public place 😳That is rare though, right?!

I would just start too. Taking Mounjaro has to become your new normal, as it's a long term process.

Side effects might not happen at all, or might be very mild. You'd be very unlucky to experience very unpleasant side effects on your first injection.

I haven't had any side effects, I eat very cleanly now though. I do think it has a lot to do with what you eat, so if you have an important day coming up don't eat fatty/spicy/greasy the night before.

I have never had the side-effects you've described and don't think they are common with Mounjaro. I have felt queasy and I have felt very full and uncomfortable if I've eaten more than a tiny amount. I've had a bit of acid reflux a couple of times in six months. I've had a perfume taste in my throat a day or so after each injection. My advice would be to start immediately but be very aware of what you're eating at the beginning until you're used to it. I find plain biscuits helps settle my stomach but I can only have one!

I haven't had any nasty side effects and I'm on first pen of 7.5mg. The only way you will know is to get started 😊

I've had no e of what you describe, mostly constipation which I get anyway, but some have been really poorly. I always inject Wednesday as I work Monday to Wednesday so it gives me the longest time if anything crops up.

On 2.5 I got no real side effects apart from mild nausea (which went away with food and water). Just gone up to 5mg and I was a bit sick today so I’m taking it easy. But I think it will settle quickly.

Doggymummar · 12/12/2024 09:57

I went to 10mg yesterday and I do feel a bit urgh today, but I had fried rice last night and I can feel the grease

You're itching to start and you'll typically get lots more advice to start than not. Even if you have a meeting with the prime minister tomorrow and just needed a day off before you start, you'll be advised to start this night, why wait?! I'll say you'll start regardless of anything else that may be said. So start immediately and hope for the best.
