Bad pen? Cure for ADHD (!) on first wegovy pen, depression on the second

Hi,

I HAVE stopped injecting but just wanted to see what anybody thinks.

First pen 0.25, I felt great - happy, energetic, clear thinking - a cure for bloomin' ADHD as some have said. Amazing. Lost 2 kilos.

Second pen 0.5 I used click charts to go up super-cautiously - 0.28, 0.32, 0.38.
Lost nothing (although there was a huge weekender with lots of food), and I have also been struck by a level of anxiety and unhappiness that I know is nothing to do with my baseline.

I am unusually sensitive to all substances, and people are usually baffled by my reactions.

However, I have heard others talk about variation in the pens.

Anyone had similar experiences? I have another pen waiting but am scared to try it.

I am on Mounjaro losing weight every week. No diagnoses of ADHD but many people in my life suggest I may have it.

I have felt days of depression in my second month. I am putting it down to a monumental shift in eating habits, shopping, family life and socialising with friends.

It would be unusual to get a bad batch if it is from a reputable pharmacy.

As a fellow ADHDer, food is my go-to dopamine source. So if like me you've always used food as a crutch, don't underestimate the impact of removing it from your life without replacing with something else.

Yes your appetite has gone and you're free from fixating on food, but emotionally you've just gone cold turkey!

People with ADHD and ASD are naturally more susceptible to side effects from medications. Scientists and doctors aren't too sure why this is, but it's a real thing.

Wow. Mind blown. I'm self-identified audhd. this makes so much sense and explains so much.

Knowing myself, I never expected to get to the 2.5 dose, but i'd like to be able to keep taking 0.25-0.5.

I just don't understand why the effect would change so much from one pen to another. Maybe audhd sensitivity is the answer to that as well.

I am with MedExpress loads of online pharmacies which are registered no need to go to boots and pay over the odds.

If it's like Mounjaro, which I'm on, it has a half life that would have made the overall levels in your system increase with each weekly injection, despite staying on a relatively similar dose. So it isn't necessarily the different pen.

Update - I have moved on to my 1.0 pen. I began very cautiously with a 0.12 dose yesterday, then another 0.12 dose today - effectively returning to 0.25.

I immediately feel levelled out.

I know this is qualitative not quantitative but without anything else to go on I think it points in the direction of the 0.5 pen doing something different.

Others have talked about certain pens not working to curb their appetite - it's not just me that experiences variation.

The effect on my mood may be very niche and down to my sensory profile, but even so, worth noting I think.

As an aside, I've realised that if I buy loads of needles, I can effectively dose myself as and when I want, in tiny increments, thus making it all very testable and reducing the risk of a bad reaction. I don't think I'll ever start another pen with the prescribed dose after this.
