Has anyone combined montjaro with heavy lifting

Hi - I am awaiting delivery of my first pen - very nervous and excited to start
I have been weight training seriously for 4 years and am concerned that I don't want to see a drop in my performance

I am opting for these now as my blood pressure is high and whilst I have always been obese and metabolically healthy this is no longer the case - in the last year I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and pernicious anaemia as well as high blood pressure

Is anyone else in the same boat? currently 120kg and hoping for a 20kg loss at first and see if
a - it is maintainable
b- my markers improve at that weight if not going to aim for lower

my main concern is that this has to be for life this time and after being obese my entire lift I am not convinced I can ever maintain a "healthy" BMI - so the old saying fat and fit is fine by me - I just want any loss to be sustainable!

Yes you can still lift weights and be on Mounjaro. Mounjaro doesn't stop anyone from exercising in any way, so there shouldn't be a drop in your performance unless you get sick or something, but not MJ itself making it difficult. It's likely to make it better even as you hopefully feel more energetic after loosing some weight.

I do weights training and have been on MJ for just over 4 month with a 3 stone loss. You can definitely keep up the training but it's worth thinking about a few things.

First, everyone's experience and side effects are different but you may get real tiredness in the first month or so and/or as you move up the doses. This is usually temporary, but might make some weeks of lifting a bit harder than others.

Be vigilant about tracking calories and protein - if you're not already, make sure you're getting enough protein each day to keep building muscle mass and to not lose muscle as you lose weight. Small nutrient-rich meals are your friend too; also really make sure you drink enough water and take electrolytes.

If you have a trainer, it's worth letting them know just so they can help you adjust your routines. This might not be a time for trying to massive beat your PBs, but you should be able to maintain what you have. I have found I have more energy as I've lost weight, but I've also been very mindful of how that balances with any loss in muscle mass. Best of luck!

You should do weights while on Mounjaro if you can in order to maintain your muscle mass. You may find you can do less in your workouts as your body will have less fuel but just keep going and make sure you eat plenty of protein.

I started lifting weights in feb this year - very light at first . Stated MJ in September . I think the combination of MJ , mindful eating and strength training has been game changing for me . So while I'm loosing weight I'm toning and increasing muscle mass .

I started in September and, with some tweaks, it hasn’t really impacted my training.
i have found that jabbing the evening of my heaviest workout of the week works best for me in terms of making sure I’m adequately fuelled as I can find it difficult to eat enough the day or two after injecting.
