Why is Mounjaro more popular than Wegovy?

I've started researching the various weight loss injections after numerous unsuccessful attempts at weight loss. Having been lurking on these boards for a while I can't understand why Mounjaro seems to be the preferred choice? I've gone through the screening with Numan and qualify for both Wegovy and Mounjaro which are the same price. I'm swayed more towards Mounjaro as there are more people here on it and I'd get more support but just wondering whether there's some other reason I've missed that makes it more popular? Is it price? Availability? Less side effects? Or is it just more effective?

Mounjaro is the newer med and mimics two hormones, whereas Wegovy works only on one.
MJ has been found to have better weight loss results with fewer side effects too.
These are the reasons I chose MJ.

It's more effective with less side effects, according to the clinical trials.

I also wonder if part of it is because all the negative stories and scaremongering in the press/social media tends to be about Ozempic (Wegovy) because for some reason that's the brand name that people seem to focus on.

It is supposed to lead to a greater weight loss in the case studies that manufacturers have done. It swayed me since I have plenty to lose and cannot afford to be on it for too long as I am already scraping by every month.

It’s cheaper.

Thank you everyone that's really helpful. Now I just need to decide whether to order it now or wait until after the Christmas madness is over!

I was listening to a podcast the other day. They also said that these drugs won't work for everyone but mounjaro works for more people. They said if you're on one and it's working there's no point switching.
I'm on ozempic and it's working very well.
I would order now because I've heard of people experiencing shortages recently and I would be concerned it'll be worse in the new year. You could order now and delay starting if you wanted to create a buffer supply but personally speaking I would start now, you'll be delighted you did in January.

I've bitten the bullet and ordered! May as well get started and if nothing else try and limit the usual damage that Christmas would do to me.

Have you started? How is it going?

Not yet. I've got my office party today so didn't want to risk the 🤢 I'll start tomorrow or Sunday.

I know it's an old thread I wanted to know how you got on and whether you lost any weight?

I know it's an old thread I wanted to know how you got on and whether you lost any weight?

I’m doing great thanks! I’m 16lbs down which averages at about 1lb per week. I know that doesn’t sound too spectacular and when I read threads like before I started I’d have thought “well I could do that on a normal diet!” But in reality I wouldn’t have done. That period includes Christmas, my birthday and a week’s holiday abroad. I’d have gained over all of those periods and would probably still be hovering around my start weight. That’s if I was still going. I was struggling to lose on anything more than 1000 call per day which is just not sustainable and I’d have inevitably given up.

So I’m really happy with how it’s going. I’m eating 3 healthy meals a day, focusing on protein and fibre. I don’t feel hungry and no longer crave or feel the need to snack. I have had a bit of nausea but nothing major and I find it’s resolved by having something to eat. However the positive side effects have far outweighed the negative. I have more energy, less pain and I just feel so much happier. It has been truly life changing for me.

Ive still got another 4 stones to go but for the first time I feel like that is achievable.
