Did Mounjaro 2.5 dose have any effect on you?

Hi all

I did about 6 months on Ozempic last year. It was effective from the first dose, I lost 2 stone, stopped for a break and have managed to maintain for 6 months. Never went above 0.5 on Ozempic.

Still have 2 stone to lose.

Restarted on Mounjaro last month, on the starting dose. It's had zero impact on me.

Now wondering if I should switch back to Ozempic.

I'll talk to my provider, but wondered if the 0.25 loading dose of Mounjaro worked for you?

Thank you!

I had the same. I lost loads of weight on wegovy and felt appetite suppression from 0.25. On Mounjaro I felt nothing until 10mg. I did lose weight though, but very slowly.

2.5mg has transformed my eating so far. I’m calorie counting and able to stick to 1000-1200 a day with ease. I could never have managed this before.

Interesting. 10mg seems a little long way away!

I'm not sure we can help. If 10 people comment you'll probably have 10 wildly different experiences!

2.5 works incredibly well for a few, moderately well for some, not particularly well for others, while for the rest it has zero effect.

I definitely think it's way too early to know if it isn't working for you, and no-one but you could guess if switching back to Ozempic would be a better choice.

Ginflinger · 02/12/2024 23:39

You're right! No way to know.

Not much on 5m of Wegovy. Nothing at all (actually increased!) on Mounjaro, but still in the first month. How was Ozempic? What made you stop if it worked? I’d try anything right now!!

healthybychristmas · 02/12/2024 23:47

I had total suppression and full impact on 2.5 right from the very first day. In fact I had more suppression then than I do now six months later.

I've been on 2.5 Mounjaro for 8 weeks and have lost 20 lbs. It has amazing appetite suppression for me, but my friend found that 2.5 did little and needed to move up to 5. Everyone is different.

Interested in you saying you took a break … I thought if you started Ozempic you had to take for life. Have I got it wrong?

MereNoelle · 03/12/2024 18:21

I lost 1 stone on a 4 weeks of 2.5mg. Anyone stone on 5mg, and the final stone on 7.5mg. Never went higher than that. But we’re all different.

Some people will, some won’t. I stopped taking MJ 8 weeks ago after reaching my goal weight and have maintained so far (actually lost a further lb).

Pumpkinforever · 03/12/2024 21:30

I am sticking with 2.5 for a second month. Lost 8kg with first 2.5 with MJ. Suppression still strong

Same! I've lost almost 2 stone in almost 2 months! Purely on 2.5mg. I am starting to feel a bit of hunger now though so will start 5mg as soon as this pen is over. Before I started MJ I was always ravenous!

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 04/12/2024 14:52

2.5 did nothing
5 also seems to be doing nothing.

wegovy was effective for me from 1st lowest dose I was annoyed to have to move off it.

i think it varies person to person.
