Can you mix Wegovy with Ozempic?

I ran out of 1.7 Wegovy (won't be able to get a new pen until Tuesday) and used up what I had (30 clicks). I have some Ozempic left from before... can I use that to top up?

I’m not a medic but I really wouldn’t do this. Would you mix any other meds without speaking to a doctor?

TeenLifeMum · 30/11/2024 00:38

I’m sure you’re supposed to leave 30 days between wegovy and mounjaro so I imagine it’s similar.

Yes, I know it sounds mad but apparently it's the same product (semaglutide).

Unless you are a pharmacist which I suspect your not then why would you even consider doing this?

Tradersinsnow · 30/11/2024 00:55

They are the exact same medication, semaglutide. The only difference is oz is for diabetics and wegovy is for weightloss. Mixing mj and oz is a very bad idea but using the same med under different names is fine.

How long has the oz been open? You're supposed to use it within 6 weeks or it can lose efficacy.

The first issue is using left over meds from before. Has it been 6 weeks since you opened it?I don't think you should use that Ozempic if it's gone past it's date of use after opening. I know it's 6 weeks after opening.

Well, it's been in the fridge so it should be fine. Why wouldn't it be?

Ozempic should be used within six weeks of opening (spoke to a pharmacist yesterday about various Ozempic related things and I remember he stressed this). Everything has a shelf life - it probably won’t do any harm but it is unlikely to actually be effective.

It's in the manufacturer's guidelines for Ozempic storage. Some sources say 6 weeks, others say 56 days after opening, it should be discarded whether it was stored in the fridge or room temp.

I'm sure some people use it longer than 56 days so if you're willing to do so too, it's up to you. It's just for you to be aware and understand the risks involved, and accept responsibility for taking that risk incase something goes wrong.

I decided to chuck out the leftover Ozempic. Thanks everyone who advised me. Xmas Smile
