Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

1000 replies

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 10:49

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

Thanks for starting this thread
I started on Wed 27/11 with 5 St to lose and a BMI of 35
So far so good.....no side effects at all

Good luck to all

Jellybelly66 · 29/11/2024 12:11

Thanks for starting this thread. I am restarting on Moujnaro once my order arrives early next week. I previously did 3 months Jul-Oct and lost 10kg but felt very ill and was getting very panicky that I was losing muscle & I felt very wrinkly. I'm now going to restart but stick to 2.5mg for as long as it works, last time moved up to 3.75 and it was too much for me. There are loads of handy tips about staying hydrated & exercising which I plan to do this time
. I have another 10kg to go I think. I never told my husband about last time so it will be good to share progress with a group of like-minded people 😉

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 13:21

It's here! Whoo hoo! 💃🏽 I can't wait to start!! Nervous and excited at the same time. Of course I've become impatient and want to get started right away but I've put it in the fridge waiting for sunday. I'm doing a lot of reading online at the moment to prepare myself for everything I need.

So great to hear of no side effects @50somethingHRTaddict Fingers crossed I have the same positives. Have you started weighing yet? Do you want to do weekly or daily or something?

So sorry you were ill the last time @Jellybelly66. Hoping this time around is better. Yes I think sticking to the low dose (maybe for much longer before going up or throughout?) might help to ease off the side effects. 10kg is a great loss👍🏼. Did you regain while on break?

Hey, I'm bought my first dose today, I'm really hoping it comes by Monday, but unlikely. But nonetheless, I'm ready.
I'll get my statistics again on the day I start, but around 27 and a half stone, BMI of 58.7 😬
I don't think I've seen anyone as heavy as me on these threads.
I'd love to be around 15st at this point.
Fingers crossed, I'm only 32 with 2 young boys and I need to change my life.

SilenceInside · 29/11/2024 15:33

Hey @BookishBabe you could come and join us over on this thread as well which is for anyone who started or is starting with a BMI of 50 plus. I've been taking Mounjaro for 21 weeks now, BMI was 50 and is now 36 ish.

Anyone starting / or currently with a BMI over 50 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight-loss-injections/5194745-anyone-starting-or-currently-with-a-bmi-over-50

JunoRoma · 29/11/2024 15:41

Thank you @OnTheMJ for starting the thread.

I thought I started a couple of weeks ago but it turned out I wasn't actually injecting a proper dose 🤦🏻‍♀️, so actually did my first 2.5mg dose yesterday.

50somethingHRTaddict · 29/11/2024 17:58

@OnTheMJ

I have weighed every day, all two of them, and have lost 1 lb
I will weigh each morning for now, I find it motivational

Good luck for Sunday

Sherrystrull · 29/11/2024 18:02

Please can I join? I started a week ago and have 5 stone to lose. No side effects so far.

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 18:35

Of course @Sherrystrull Come on in! Hope to have no side effects too! Have you started feeling anything yet?

Wow! @JunoRoma How did you manage that? I can imagine the disappointment you must have felt but better late than never!

OP posts:
Sherrystrull · 29/11/2024 18:45

I've had some appetite suppression but the biggest change has been the lack of feeling hungry. It's honestly amazing to not be constantly worried about being hungry

JunoRoma · 29/11/2024 19:29

I only realised when I went to do the "third" dose and noticed the pen was still nearly full.

Instead of pushing the end straight downwards, I had been doing a combined action of pressing and twisting the dial back down to 0 (reverse action of dialing it up to 1). The annoying thing is that I had read the instructions and even watched a video. I think a tiny dose was delivered but based on the amount left in the pen it will have been very small.

I was annoyed with myself, but I'm trying to look on the positive side and rebrand those two weeks as a practice run of healthier eating habits. I can still get three full doses out of that pen before its 30 days are up.

JunoRoma · 29/11/2024 19:48

Some people count the clicks on the pen to deliver 0.25 or 0.5 or 0.75 of a dose, and I've seen this referred to as 'microdosing'.
What I inadvertently did was actual microdosing, or even nanodosing.

raspberrymeringue · 29/11/2024 19:58

Hi all, can I join in. I was on the September thread originally but stopped after 3 weeks due to side effects and a big holiday looming. So I've just restarted and am trying a 1.25mg dose by counting clicks. Done 2 doses so far but where the suppression at 2.5mg was extreme for me, 1.25mg isn't doing much at all. So I need to find a sweet spot somewhere in between hopefully. Good luck to everyone starting.

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 20:28

Yes, join us @raspberrymeringue You can do 1.5mg or 1.75mg or 2mg and see how they go. Sorry to hear you had issues at first. Here's hoping this time around will be much better!

Sherrystrull · 29/11/2024 20:30

Has anyone moved to 5mg? Did you notice any changes from 2.5?

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 20:34

@Sherrystrull I believe to have moved to 5mg, someone would have started 4 or 5 weeks ago. So you'll likely find the answer in the november starters (and other months) thread...or until some of us here have done 4 weeks at least. 😊

Sorry! Jumping the gun'

PresidentBarklett · 29/11/2024 20:52

Can I join? I started a week ago and just weighed in. I've lost 11 lbs. I'm in a little bit of shock. Water weight, for the most part, obviously. Still, a great morale boost.

No side effects yet, other than some appetite supression and a strange disinterest in food unless I'm hungry. Meals now just feel like things I need to do in order to move on with my day.

Today is my second injection day so I've been more hungry than usual. I went with it and ate slightly larger portions than I've managed the rest of the week. Just did second jab - weirdly felt it more this time round, but still wouldn't say it hurt.

Best of luck to everyone!

50somethingHRTaddict · 29/11/2024 21:01

Anyone else having to consciously remember to stop eating when full?
Mindlessly ate my dinner last night and realised I was continuing to eat even though I was full to the brim!
Also I have always been a good water drinker so worried I'll not get that delightful big initial loss, if that's how it works.

chaiselongues · 29/11/2024 22:46

Hi all, hoping I can join in here although I actually started on the 22 Nov so just got my first week weigh in this morning - I was sure it wasn't working for me but I'm 2.6kg down... trying not to get too excited but v optimistic...?!

SW 108.8kg
CW 106.2kg
GW 60kg

Still a way to go...!

Unfortunately yes I put 3kg back on but I did go on holiday so I suppose an increase was always on the cards. However I have found now I have been off mounjaro for approx 6 weeks my appetite has come back big time..

CrystalDeCanter · 29/11/2024 23:38

Hi there I started in Thursday, am so pleased to be doing it. Didn't feel hungry yesterday, felt a bit nauseous. Went to a party and the wine tasted foul. Had a weird taste in my mouth all day and was quite dry mouthed. So drank lots of water.
I have 20kg to lose. Hoping by my birthday in March to be a shadow of my former self.

LouisaPesel · 30/11/2024 10:59

Gulp! Got an email from Numan saying my order has been dispatched!

OnTheMJ · 30/11/2024 11:58

How's everyone doing today? Tomorrow is the d-day for me! I'm pretty sure it will be anti-climactic the way I'm building it up 😞 but still happy to start regardless.

@LouisaPesel Gulp! Gulp! No going back.😆

I took my second 2.5 dose last night. No real side effects today, but just had a Huel protein shake, because I needed to have something, and now feel a bit sick. Very mild though. Bashing through my day!

My best friend is visiting today so we'll be taking thr dogs for a nice long walk and then settling down in front of a film or two. Planning on a nandos but I think I'll go for one of their salad bowls as my usual burger holds no appeal whatsoever. May try a glass of red wine, but not sure as I don't have my usual jolt of longing when I imagine it 😅
