Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 10:49

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

@SpellitwithaY

I'm just going to eat in a calorie defecit- I have a Team RH account so will track on there

CrystalDeCanter · 01/12/2024 21:22

I'm going to focus on healthy eating and just eat less. I found that I have gone right off alcohol- it just seems to taste bitter now. I went to a party yesterday, had a few canapés and a couple of sips of wine but then switched to non alcoholic drinks. Which is weird for me.

Lola3034 · 01/12/2024 21:23

Good luck to all the December starters 🥳.

Hey, I'm bought my first dose today, I'm really hoping it comes by Monday, but unlikely. But nonetheless, I'm ready.
I'll get my statistics again on the day I start, but around 27 and a half stone, BMI of 58.7 😬
I don't think I've seen anyone as heavy as me on these threads.
I'd love to be around 15st at this point.
Fingers crossed, I'm only 32 with 2 young boys and I need to change my life.

Wishing you the best of luck. It will be life changing x

CrystalDeCanter · 01/12/2024 21:25

Also I have found that my tastes for junk foods has changed am only on day 3 tho so not sure if this will continue. Also has anyone been to the supermarket yet? I usually enjoy wondering the aisles thinking about what to cook, but this time it just felt really functional, I had no ideas, couldn't work up any enthusiasm, nothing looked enticing.

SlayWithMJ · 01/12/2024 21:56

Hello, I started on 23 November. It's been going well so far and I'm a stone down but I have a lot to lose. I'm finding it so strange having much more brain space as I'm not thinking about food all the time. Side effects are a dry mouth and headaches so I'm trying to drink loads.

Slimwannabe · 01/12/2024 22:05

Just taken my first dose, feeling a little odd so off for a tea and a lie-down! Have 8-9 stone to lose ideally.

Skint2022 · 02/12/2024 08:00

Hello. I started last night. Feeling anxious about having any side affects as I don’t cope well with nausea at all! Hardly slept and do feel a bit sicky this morning but think that’s more nerves than anything else. Have had a shower and lots of water and that’s helped. I’m currently 15st9 and would like to be 11st ideally. Really hoping this works. X

SpellitwithaY · 02/12/2024 09:30

1st dose done! Feeling normal so far ☺️. Let's see how we go!

Sleepthief · 02/12/2024 10:28

Literally just taken my first dose 😬

Slimwannabe · 02/12/2024 11:10

No adverse side effects yet - I took my dose before bed with the hope of sleeping through the worst of it (if anything). Have had two boiled eggs for breakfast (protein!) and am stuffed!

Annie1919 · 02/12/2024 11:39

Considering starting.....Is anyone who's had their gallbladder removed using Mounjaro, without side effects? Thanks.

Fatgirlthin2024 · 02/12/2024 11:50

Hi all, I started on Friday and so far so good, little bit of nausea but that's it with the side effects. I can't believe how quickly it took affect after my jab, ive had no food noise and am definitely eating less. Here's to a new me next year, fingers crossed 😄

BookishBabe · 02/12/2024 11:57

I was hoping my first dose was going to be delivered today, but no such luck.
But it has officially been prescribed as of this morning.
Fingers crossed I'll start on Wednesday.

Do people prefer jabbing in the morning or evening?
I was planning on the morning.

Hi all, nice to see more December starters here! Welcome everyone; Sorry it's too many to tag.

Mine has taken effect for sure. Had a bit of d & v last night but more diarrhoea and was up most of the night. I'm feeling much better now actually like it's cleared out everything it needed to. I'm sure I've lost some weight from that alone but I'm not weighing yet till atleast a week from now. I'm still having a bit of nausea but definitely better than the v last night. That was horrible! I've managed some food and a lot of water today, though I still don't feel like eating anything (it really did take effect within hours of my first jab as I still feel increasingly the same with food)!

Hoping it's the end of diarrhoea for me. I feel quite sleepy as I lost some sleep last night but I'm trying to get through the day. Wish me luck! Goodluck to all of us 💛

Hi all, I started 2 days ago on Wegovy (changing to Mounjara next month).

(I started by micro-dosing my starter 0.25 pen with less clicks, twice a week (bought extra needles) to build up more slowly and hopefully avoid some of the side effects. I realise this is not the medical protocol but I’m usually very sensitive to medicines and have researched it well.)

I have had no side effects from my micro-dose - except very weird and vivid dreams for two nights! And perhaps waking up in the middle of the night so sleep more disturbed.

I am really looking forward to see how this will pan out, successfully I hope. I intend to go slowly as I don’t want Ozempic face. Losing 1 - 2 lbs a week will be fine for me. I’m looking forward to thinking less about food and my clothes starting to fit me! I might book myself a holiday in May as a reward. Hopefully I would have lost a stone by then.

I’m 63, am unable to do much in the way of exercise and spent the last 15 years on and off diets. Nothing seemed to work long term which made me feel v despondent. I was shocked I weighed myself today and was 14 st 2lbs, I must have put on 10lbs this year!

Anyway, I am v hopeful this will work. I will weigh in once a week.

Good luck to everyone!🙂

Sorry, also welcome the late November starters and the Wegovy posters. Forgot to add you all to the welcome note in my last post. All welcome on this thread and goodluck too. 💛

Oooof, doesn't sound fun! Fingers crossed things settle down for you ASAP!

ohmyohmy123 · 02/12/2024 18:07

I'm on day 5 and I feel a stone lighter already! Looking in the mirror depresses me because I don't feel like that person looking back at me :-(.

Anyway looking forward to not gaining weight over Xmas for the first time ever!

I started Saxenda on thursday, but no active Saxenda threads so will join here please!
I can't believe how much it's curbed my appetite!
I've a bmi of 27.5, and 2 stone to loose.

Sorry to ask here, but is Saxenda for lower BMIs? I tried to fill the questionnaire on Medexpress and it said no to a BMI of 30.

dubmimi · 02/12/2024 20:16

@Caddycat no, in ireland it seems to be Saxenda the docs prescribe as opposed to monjaro.
I think rules are bmi over 30, or over 27 with a weight related health issue (like high cholesterol/ bp etc)

@OnOnTheMJ so sorry you gad a bad night. Hopefully, you are over it all now

Welcome to all new posters

So glad to hear all the positive, no side effects, stories

As suggested, I did have an improved daily weight check...now 7lb down 😁
Today I had a painful but short live tummy cramp, quickly followed by a trip to the bathroom! No other side effects.

Just had a late dinner, so fingers crossed 🤞

How many calories are you aiming for everyone? I don't want to go too low as over-restricting won't be sustainable long term, so I'm going for 1500-1800 a day. Didn't feel any hunger pangs today but drank a lot of water and ate regular meals, and haven't had any digestive issues.

I downloaded Nutracheck to make sure I was eating enough rather than too much, as the first couple of days of Week 1 I found myself wanting very little. That's eased off a bit now and I find I'm clocking in at around 1200-1300 per day with ease. Most nights I'll treat myself to a couple of medjool dates to keep things moving (ahem) which tends to bring it up to about 1350-1450. Genuinely feel so satisfied with my food right now.
