I'm just looking to chat with others who have a lot to loose .
It feels daunting, and it's going to be expensive.
I'm currently week 3 on monjroro

Have you seen this thread?

Mounjaro / Wegovy with > 5st / 30kg to lose: Thread 3 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight-loss-injections/5183561-mounjaro-wegovy-with-5st-30kg-to-lose-thread-3

My BMI was just almost exactly 50 when I started, which was almost 16 weeks ago. I absolutely know how you feel.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 16:02

I haven't seen that thread no
I'm on a few under different names
But I've been to embarrassed to say my BMI was 50 and everyone else seems to have a couple of stone to loose ,I will still be overweight if I loose 10 stone .
I'm doing this so I hopefully can avoid weight loss surgery

How much have you lost in 16 weeks ,may I ask

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 24/10/2024 16:09

From my starting weight I will still be overweight when I've lost 10st too. So far I've lost 4st 9lbs, it will be a bit more than that when I weigh in tomorrow. I seem to respond well to the Mounjaro and I think the amount of weight I've lost is at the higher end. I worry a bit that it's too quick but I'm not trying to lose it quickly.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 16:13

I lost a stone before starting monjroro,by calorie counting,
I've also tried mysimba
But I've not weighed myself in the last 3 weeks ,as I'm worried I've not lost weight.the starting dose isn't really doing much for me

OP posts:
Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 16:15

Thankyou for answering,I hope we can continue to chat as we loose weight x

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 24/10/2024 16:16

I think that's the case for a fair few people. Going up to 5mg is a doubling of the 2.5mg dose, the only time the dose actually doubles, and many people find that's when they start to get the full effects. It's definitely a long term process.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 16:20

Everyone I'm hearing about ,I feel ,like they are loosing huge amounts, like 10 pounds in their first week.
I know I haven't done that ,I feel ,well I'm worried I will be one of the 15% it doesn't work for .
But I've an injury at the moment where I'm having to rest ,so I'm literally sitting around all day .so I assume that's going to affect things

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 24/10/2024 16:26

Are you managing to eat less, do you think, or is it not affecting that yet?

Doggymummar · 24/10/2024 16:28

I started at BMI 42 18 stone 2. Basically 100 lb to lose. I'm half way their now.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 16:28

I'm eating a lot less yes
But I used to do a lot of exercise untill my injury, and I think the sitting around is probably not helping

@Cakesandcookiesnomore hey ya, I started BMI just over 45 ( 21st)

2.5mg did start working for me at first but I'll be moving h to 5mg tomorrow, I've lost some weight (will weigh tomorrow to confirm exactly how much) but I'm looking forward to moving up a dose. Welcome along, you will find lots of support here and on the board that suggested earlier Flowers

Snozzlemaid · 24/10/2024 18:34

I started in May with a BMI of 44, my weight was 18st 6lbs so to get to a healthy BMI I need an 8 stone loss!
I'm half way there now, so this has worked wonders for me.
Give it time and keep going with it, I'm sure you'll have great results too.

Singleandproud · 24/10/2024 18:56

Have you tried seated exercise? Lots of videos available on YouTube to keep you mobile whilst your heal.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 19:01

Yes I've tried seated exercises,it was cycling that caused my injury.
That's how I ended up getting injections ,when I realised I couldn't exercise any more .
I'm hoping to get back to swimming soon ,and next injection is 5 mils so I hoping that makes a difference.
I just hope this makes enough of a difference so I don't need WLS

Here's my weight loss chart, I'm doing about .5 kg a week. I have my app settings to slow weight loss as I want to go slowly so that I have enough time for habit change etc to stick. My daily calories are just over 1550 so it can be an effort to eat enough.

At my heaviest, I was somewhere in the 22 stone region and BMI was around 50. Separating from my abusive ex in 2017 kick started weight loss.

Last year, I was finally in a great place mentally, so I started exercising and this year, the focus is on eating properly and weight loss.

Try not to compare yourself to others. You are unique, so spend your mental energy on yourself. You've got this. 💪

Actually that is really helpful
I'm also eating around 1500 calories a day ,and I have been comparing myself to others who are only managing to get 800 in or 1000,and I've definitely been stressing, why am I eating so much more on the same injections
But if your BMI is the same as mine , hopefully I might loose weight on 1500 as well.
I'm not massively calorie counting, just keeping an eye on it ,I'm trying to relax and follow hunger ques ..
Maybe I will think about weighing myself at some point ,and see if I've anything else

@Cakesandcookiesnomore
I lost more in 4 days on 5mg than I did in 4 weeks on 2.5mg. So don't worry if nothing much happens on 2.5, it doesn't mean anything. Frustrating when everyone else seems to be losing loads but actually normal.

unsync · 24/10/2024 19:50

@Cakesandcookiesnomore I was really worried about weighing as in the past I became really obsessive about it. Now it is just part of my routine.

Every morning I get up, go to the bathroom, step on the scales and then get in the shower. I think weighing everyday, but only logging weekly has shown me that even if some days are up, the overall trend is down IYSWIM.

Maybe because I'm bigger than most ,I need more to loose weight.
I don't know if that's how it works

Weighing myself,..if it's not good news ..can put me in a foul mood , utterly foul where I deliberately self sabotage and eat even more .
But a good result on the scale can feel like Christmas
I don't think I could cope with weighing daily
But I'm glad you have found something that works for you ,you sound like your doing great

Can I suggest you have a look here www.notion.so/wattnext/e880d9342b7a4bab94c244b34e0e5841?v=cc1edc3f1c2b41dab3011c8d9063df0a&pvs=4

There's also a link there to a weight loss tracker and you can see how you're doing in comparison to others.

When you're feeling doubtful look on the Reddit mounjarouk and mounjaro threads.

I'm losing slower than others I think but I was over 40BMI and now 38ish so going the right way.

It's really really important not just to rely on the injections you have to really make some changes and prioritize yourself. So for me that means swimming and weights 3 x a week. And very low carbing (but full fat).

You need to eat as much protein as possible to help your body cope and to not loose muscle.

It's been fine. A few side effects when on the top level, I was sick everyday for a month, but after that it was hunky dory

olympicsrock · 24/10/2024 20:17

Don’t worry too much about the exercise. Yes it helps but weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

I’ve lost 3.5 stone over 6.5 months at 1.75 lb per week on MJ. You just have to stick at it. I haven’t tracked calories at all . At times eating enough has been a battle as I have felt nauseated. Drink loads of water and try and eat higher protein and healthier snacks little and often. I’ve also done an intermittent fasting g pattern most days, missing breakfast and not eating after 7 pm .
