I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

I did my 2nd injection of 5mg Friday night and been having problems 😢Sorry for following tmi.

When on 2.5mg I was really constipated. I was a little worried going up to 5mg would make matters worse, so last week took one mild laxitive, this was the day after my 1st 5mg injection.

The following day, I went to the toilet 😊 but then I went completely the opposite and started with diarrhoea - at the same time Dh had sickness bug, so I thought I must have caught the bug as well.

Friday the diarrhoea stopped, so I thought problem was solved. That night took my 2nd 5mg injection and by the following morning the diarrhoea was back full force 😢
My appetite has literally gone, I am forcing myself to eat but can only eat really small amounts eg half a yoghurt and within 30 mins I have to run to the toilet.
Also had really bad heart burn for about 24hrs after the injection.

5mg is definitely not working for me, so want to try 3.75mg but not sure how I measure this correctly x

Well, I'm all flu-ed up right now and any thoughts of nutrition went by the wayside tonight when I ate for my tea:

  • a dairylea lunchables (ham and cheese)
  • a borders chocolate ginger biscuit
  • 2 apple pie biscuits
  • 3 oatcakes with boursin on them
  • a pint of diet coke

Calorie wise, not massive for an evening meal and it definitely wasn't a binge. But, as far as health goes, obviously not ideal!

I’ve lost 4 kilos, had 4 injections of the 2.5. I thought my pants were fitting better at the waist but my string measurements not moved. Definitely less inflammation, especially in my legs.

Took my first 5mg dose yesterday and feel dreadful 😕 Very nauseous and tired and I've also been struggling with headaches (I think due to high BP). Currently lying in bed debating whether to call in sick or push on through and I very rarely have sick days! Any tips for getting through this?

Sorry to hear about the troubles some of us are having. 5mg is also not agreeing with me - took my first one yesterday (WK6 D1) and have been sick as a dog since last night! However this happened to me on my very first 2.5mg jab so probably the way my body reacts to any MJ first dose.

WK6 D2 today and I've managed to have a boiled egg (maybe bad idea with the d&v but I need to eat something as I'm empty, need fuel and had barely anything yesterday). I'm feeling a bit better now and hope my egg stays down!

Congrats on all the losses. 👏 Let's keep going! 💪 I've managed to stay the same so far so no new gain for me.

@OnTheMJ I've had nausea with the 5 - I find small chunks of cheese and nuts are easy to get down and get some calories in.

I hope it settles down for you. Did you do 3.75 first? I didn't so I'm hoping it'll have settled by my next one!

Total Loss: 4.2 kg (9 lbs), 4.7% weight loss

Week by Week:
W1: 2.5mg, -2 kg
W2: 2.5mg, -1 kg
W3: 2.5mg, -0.9 kg
W4: 5mg, -0.3kg

Some nausea but all manageable. My appetite was pretty much absent until yesterday. Really need to drink more water and eat more protein! Tracking my food intake and drinking more water is my focus for this week.

Thanks @ohmyohmy123 Looks like quite a few of us then. So sorry to hear about the nausea. Thanks for the tip. I'll try some nuts as I have them in already.

No I went straight to 5mg yesterday after my last 2.5mg the previous week. Like you, I'm hoping it will settle as I go. x

Hi everyone!

So Sunday is Jab day and took my 2nd 5mg injection. Lost 1lb this week- total loss on MJ is 17lbs and started on 1st December

No side effects with 5mg so far which I'm happy about!

I daily weigh and follow the Team RH GLP1 plan (was on team RH from April anyway and just swapped the plans over) daily calorie allowance is 1819 but I'm averaging around 1300 calories

So many of you are doing so well - congrats on all the losses!

I'm on W7 D1 - Weigh in no 6 for me this morning and I've lost 3lbs this week so that's a 5lb loss over the 3 Christmas/new year weeks which is normally where I'd put that much on! I don't feel like I've deprived myself that much either - astonishingly I've only had 2 mince pies all Christmas...

I went up to 5mg last week and did my second jab today - I don't feel like I've had any side effects really. I'm taking physillium husks each day to help keep constipation under control and that seems to be working. I'm also taking a well woman plus multi vitamin with the fish oils to try and make sure I get all my nutrients, any one else taking any other supplements they recommend?

My stats are:
SW 15st 13lb (BMI 38.3)
CW 14st 8lb (BMI 35)
GW 10st (BMI 24)
Losses: 7, 5, 2, 1, 1, 3
Loss so far: 1st 5lb

Also feeling off since my first 5mg dose last night - faintly nauseous, not enough to be sick, but enough to be distracting! Also feeling quite full/bloated, achy, tired, and cranky. Hopefully wears off tomorrow, trying to get through work but just want to go to bed!

I’ve been quite hungry especially in the afternoons and evenings lately and wondered if I should go up to 5mg after all.

But I had a good splosh of full fat milk in my coffee today and then couldn’t eat my breakfast for nearly two hours, despite having fasted from 1900-1200.

So I think what I need is actually to add a bit of fat here and there. I’ve been going super-healthy with protein and veg and fruit, but it’s a little bit of fat that gives the full feeling. I can eat fruit indefinitely, but feel instantly full from fat.

So I put a tablespoon or two of Greek yogurt on my breakfast bowl of chia etc and am now feeling much more like I’ve eaten something substantial.

I should have known this because last week on holiday I had a big (and delicious!) pina colada and then didn’t want to eat dinner, breakfast, or lunch. Pina coladas must be quite nutritious really with fruit and coconut so maybe that’s a new diet? Small dose of MJ and a large pc morning and evening would be an exceptionally pleasant way to lose weight for a week ir two, even if not sustainable in the longer term. If it catches on, you heard it here first.

I’ve had a runny tummy now all through week 4. Thought it might be a bug because a DC had d&v but it isn’t resolving. Not sure what to do about it since the high fibre and protein food I want to eat is probably the exact opposite of what it needs. Definitely not going up to 5mg while it’s like this.

I’m also finding the calibration a bit tricky. I’m impatient to lose weight fast, but I also know that slower is healthier, and I need to have enough energy to exercise and not least to think. I drove somewhere for the first time in a while today and realized I wasn’t as with it as I should be.

You poor thing; I'm lactose-intolerant so am familiar with the post-dairy terrible tummy churning! 🤣

Very little appetite today - have choked down a protein yoghurt and salad and feeling like poo. Will try to make soup for dinner, that feels possibly manageable.

Oh no, this is rubbish! Is any food sitting better for you? Only advice I've seen is to have plenty of water and electrolytes, not very helpful.

My new pen has arrived. I ordered a 5ml one, just in case my suppression wanes away on 2.5.

Jab day is tomorrow. I felt all the food noise come roaring back around 11am today, and i ate 3 mince pies (leftover from Christmas) but oh my, do i regret it now. I still feel really full and slightly icky.

So i think tomorrow I'll just jab 2.5 again and stick with doing half doses of 5mg as i wouldn't want side effects to ramp up.

Ive only lost 2kg this first month, but its really helping me make sensible food choices and hopefully that mixed with regular gym visits will slowly but surely make the weight drop off.

I'm going on holiday in February, and I don't know if I should take the next pen with me or just have two weeks off. Can I do that? There's going to be a lot of travelling involved and changing accommodation several times. Has anyone been in the same boat?

I've heard of other people taking breaks and going back on - might be worth discussing with your provider first, see what they advise. I would probably take the pen with me, tbh!

Feeling much better on the 5mg this evening although mega-stuffed and couldn't fit my grapes in. Really craving Asian food all the time, so made a ramen-y thing for dinner and it's done me in. Poor husband has had peanut tofu, teriyaki tofu, and aubergine larb, as well as the ramen, all in the last few days and I think he is coriandered out.

I'm concerned about carrying the pen around Asia to be honest. But yes will try and speak to MedExpress.

Did my first 5mg pen today....then I read about everyone's nasty side effects. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. I feel ok....so far.

SW 13st 4lb
Week 1 - (7lb)
Week 2 - (1.5lb)
Week 3 - (1lb)
Week 4 - (3lb)

So close to that first stone off! First time ever I think I've come into January weighing less than what I did at the start of December.

@saj90 Could you work it so that you take a dose just before you go on holiday? Then you'll only have a week off it?
