Do I feel shattered because of the noise mounjaro?

I just find I have fuck all energy or motivation to do anything anymore. I've been on mounjaro since mid September, I'm now on 5mg and have another 3 injections to go, today is actually my jab day and I haven't even done it yet because I dread how wiped out it makes me !
I am due on so that won't be helping but I'm not due on all the time ! I'm seriously struggling to even leave the house lately.
Is anyone else like this ?!

It does affect some people like this. I knew of someone on Ozempic a few years ago who had to stop taking it as she just couldn’t function.

But it could just be that you need to adjust to it. It’s hard to know really as everyone reacts so differently.

MundaySunday · 26/11/2024 14:02

Yes definitely. It got better when I lowered my dose but I had gone all the way up to max and settled (for now) on 7.5. Did you have adequate suppression on 2.5? It may be that you are one who just needs a lower dose.

How many calories a day are you eating?I know little about the jab, just that it is an appetite suppressant? So if you aren't feeling hungry, are you making sure to eat a balanced diet with enough calories in it to sustain yourself?

mrstumbler · 26/11/2024 14:37

I did have quite a decent suppression on 2.5mg I guess, I lost quite abit in that initial first month. But I thought you had to go up from the email I received off Asda 😆 because 2.5mg was just to get your body used to it ?
So this is my second month on 5mg, and I just feel like I cannot be arsed!!

I'm probably not eating enough calories to be honest. I do eat! No way am I starving myself but maybe I'm not eating enough of the right foods?
I do have protein water that I drink everyday though

I’m with Asda as well and they do make it sound like that. The best thing to do is to stay on the lowest dose that you get suppression with. If the side effects are causing suffering, the dose is too high. You can go back to a 2.5 dose on your current pen by reducing the number of clicks.

happygertie · 26/11/2024 20:25

It has the opposite effect on me, I have lots more energy. I find myself having the energy to do more house work and just generally potter about as where before I was have just sat in sofa all day.

I am shattered a lot but that is from doing more moving and exercising, I get to the end of the day and I'm soo ready for bed.

RamblingFar · 26/11/2024 22:11

I found it gradually got better after several weeks.

NameChange34690521478 · 26/11/2024 22:12

It completely wipes me out the day after injection day too!

Hildabaggins · 27/11/2024 00:23

I am the same. I am exhausted all the time. It’s a new level of exhaustion! I am planning on stopping when I finish my current pen (3rd pen, 5mg). My BMI is currently 26.9 so I should get to nearly 26 by the end of this pen.

mrstumbler · 27/11/2024 09:52

Maybe the dose is too high, but I don't get any other side effects just this exhaustion! That's why I was asking if others have the same thing, other than that I don't get any reflux etc so been quite lucky in that respect.

I did my jab today, a day later than usual. Dreading the next couple of days lol
I have only lost 1 pound this week too but it's still a loss

MundaySunday · 27/11/2024 09:54

My only side effect is exhaustion if I go too high of a dose. Also only lose about a pound a week but slow and steady is the way to go I think. If/when suppression is no longer working, that’s when to move up a dose.

pointlesspoints · 27/11/2024 09:55

I'm probably not eating enough calories to be honest.

Track them, you will be exhausted if you are not eating enough.

InItToLoseIt · 27/11/2024 09:56

I used to feel extreme exhaustion and cold when I was on 2.5mg but they were only the first week, then again around the 3rd or 4th week. I haven't really felt them since then. I know how you feel though - it's awful.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 27/11/2024 09:59

You’ve been a bit coy about amounts lost and calories.

when I was losing 10-14lbs a month I was eating 600-900 cals per day and I was exhausted

I am now losing about 2kg-3kg a month eating 1200-1400 per day and don’t feel as tired as I’m fuelling my body more.

I only tracked my calorie Intake for one day as I cannot be bothered with the weighing etc ! It's was around 900 calories that day.
All together I've lost about 2.5 stone

I don't plan to order anymore once this month is finished as hopefully I'll be back to my pre pregnancies weight once it's all been used up !

That's an average of over 4lb a week? To do that you need to be eating over 2000 calories a day UNDER your maintenance level. Unless you are very active, very tall and very overweight to start (I am medium active 5.7 and obese and my maintenance calories are calculated at around 2600 a day. ) I suspect you have been eating significantly under 900 calories a day.
With such an unsustainably fast lost I'm not suprised you have no energy, your body is busy eating itself.
Try tracking your calories and sticking to around 1300 a day minimim for a while and see how you feel.

Losingthetimber · 27/11/2024 11:59

Op that’s why you’re exhausted, it’s nothing to do with the drug and everything to do with the fact you’re starving yourself. This is a really unhealthy way to lose weight and it is not sustainable, the drugs are not advisable for anyone with an eating disorder, which it would appear you have or have now developed.

you will be losing muscle, you are likely to lose your hair. You need to eat healthy. And ensure you’ve enough protein.

where as I am not sure I agree with the pp on 1300, I feel it depends on height, weight, activity levels etc, I do agree you need to calorie count to ensure you’ve enough protein eat enough and you need to also ensure you’ve eaten enough protein , because if you don’t, exhaustion will be the least of your issues.

mrstumbler · 27/11/2024 12:07

Well I don't agree with that I have an eating disorder ! My issue is lunch, I can easily go all day just snacking on nuts and cheese which I know isn't healthy.
For breakfast I usually have a piece of toast and then later on I have x2 weetabix.
Dinner I always have a decent healthy meal, which usually is chicken/rice/potatoes/vegetables. All my dinners I make my scratch. Once a week we have a takeaway.
I am always on the go as I have two under 2 at home so I don't get a minute to myself.

Any tips for me how much I should be eating ? Because I do try but I get full really easily

The only time I've felt like this was near the start when I realised I just wasn't eating enough. I hadn't realised as I wasn't feeling hungry at all, but when I went back and totted up calories, I was under 1000 every day for like a week, with some days 600-800. No wonder I felt exhausted and like crap! I haven't felt like that since I've made sure I'm getting as close to 1200 cals a day on average as possible.

spuddy4 · 27/11/2024 12:16

I've been taking mounjaro since May and the first 48 hours after my injection I'm exhausted and wiped out. It's nothing to do with what I eat nor is it due to an eating disorder, it's one of the common side effects listed on the medication leaflet. Lots of people swear by electrolytes but I'm still on the fence about whether or not they work, they are pretty cheap so it's worth a try because they might work for you.

mrstumbler · 27/11/2024 12:17

So it's clear I need to eat more then, but I do think lunch is the problem as that where I hardly eat is during the day !

i mean this politely but it is not about you. The op is losing 4 lbs a week every week and likely eating way less than 900 cals a day. As such, it is about her cal intake, and it is her thread.
