Foods that stop Mounjaro working?

MamaorBruh · 20/11/2024 07:51

Are there any well know foods to avoid whilst using Mounjaro?
I ask, because I love pineapple but read something the other day that said it hinders the progress of the injection so now I'm wondering if there's anything else that happens with?

What on earth is the rationale behind avoiding pineapple? It's quite high in sugar I suppose, but so are most fruits.

Anecdotally, a lot of people report that they experience worse gastric side effects after eating rich or fatty foods.

It tends to be grapefruit that messes with medications as it causes some to be absorbed more quickly.
Pineapple does have a lot of enzymes. Is it that?

I try and avoid sugar where possible as it just makes me hungry an hour later.

Even on Mounjaro? I don't feel hungry for several hours after eating anything.

Yes, not if I eat a lot. But I try to avoid sugary stuff like pastries at breakfast as I will get hungry far sooner than if I have protein.

Also, I'm trying to habit form for when I come off.

No, there aren't any particular foods to avoid. If there were, then the prescriber would tell you what they are and why to avoid them. Pineapple is fine.

LoquaciousPineapple · 20/11/2024 09:05

I've not come across any that stop it working, but some do cause pretty bad side effects. I had no side effects at all for the first 26 weeks or so, and then they started for no apparent reason. I find fatty foods even in small doses (like even a small amount of coconut cream in a recipe for four) give me diarrhoea.

Are you on a low dose? That’s quite unusual.

First post nails it! @VelociraptorsVelociRapping

I'm a few months in now and I can eat much richer food now if I choose, at the start I had to eat very plainly otherwise ahem I'd know about it. I've had steady weight loss throughout so not aware of anything I ate impeding weight loss. I did cut out carbs and sugar though.

Re. pineapple, I thought it boosts metabolism?
