Wegovy - I didn’t prep properly…. worried

I started my new 0.5 Wegovy pen today but worried about the dose I took as I didn’t prep the pen properly. I put the new needle in, and where you are meant to make sure the flow check symbol lines line up, I didn’t do this for some reason, and kept turning the pen until it reached 0.5. I then panicked and tried to check the flow, and when I pressed the end of the pen a large dose squirted out across the room!

I then realised that I have probably lost a dose, so thought that I’d at least still have 3 doses in the pen. I then turned the pen like a normal dosage, set it to 0.5 and injected my arm like normal.

I’m worried that I shouldn’t have done this and that the dosage was now not correct. However, the grey marker in the pen window is now about half way down so looks like it may have been ok.

Can anyone reassure me?

You will be fine. If you turned the dial to the full dose and injected then you have had a normal dose. You will have wasted a bit when you did your extra prime but only a whole dose if you kept pressing the end until it went back to zero? There is quite a lot extra in a Mounjaro pen so you will probably get your 4 doses no problem.

Sorry what do you think has actually gone wrong? You wasted a bit, then you took a dose.

Oh sorry you are on Wegovy. In which case you might not get a full forth dose depending how much you wasted. But your dose today will be fine. The mechanism twists back and forth and doesn’t ‘know’ what you did before with priming etc.

Thanks. I think I just panicked when the dose shot across the kitchen, and I definitely didn't count to 6! So I was worried that there was this meant that the next dose I did inject was too big?
