A light hearted one. What have you noticed, good, bad or weird, as you have lost weight?

For me, as well as the obvious health related effects, I have two noticeable ones. My legs have changed shape and now when I lie on my side, my knees are bony. I'm going to need a cushion now.

The other one is that I get cold, I was not expecting this at all. I went swimming outside the other day and had to stop after 10 lengths.

I'm not complaining, it's more that I've been so fat, for so long, that it's never occurred to me how people of normal weight negotiate every day life with a smaller body. So as well as learning to eat properly and exercising, I'm having to work that out too, which I hadn't really anticipated.

I've sufffered from trichotillomania (hair pulling) for 38 years. I go through good and bad phases but have never completely stopped for longer than a couple of weeks. I realised the other week that I haven't pulled once since I started MJ four months ago 🙂

@Emeralpies That's amazing. I hope that means you've broken the habit, do you need to have a strategy for when you stop taking the MJ? You can't be the only one, there's a lot of anecdotal evidence about behaviour changes.

@Emeralpies that is fantastic 💃💃💃

Being cold swimming is new for me too! So weird. I’m still managing to do my lengths (I swim year round outdoors) but I’m getting out covered in goose bumps.

Also I’m not as floaty….

My other one is that when I stretch my quads my heel hits my bum. That’s never happened before but my legs are so much less chunky now. I always thought it was a flex thing. It’s was a fat thing.

UpUpUpU · 05/11/2024 14:38

Being cold for me too!

WeAllHaveWings · 05/11/2024 15:09

Try combing being cold with menopausal hot flashes. I spend the entire night either freezing or boiling, wrapping duvets around me to try to warm up, then throwing them off.......repeat all night!

mm81736 · 05/11/2024 15:58

Being cold, for sure!

MJOverInvestor · 06/11/2024 22:08

Definitely being cold - especially hands and feet. I realised now that I was always being told I had poor circulation as a (skinny) teen and (normal-sized) young adult and I wonder whether whether (subconsciously) one of the (many) reasons I put on weight was to cure it. I'm finding it harder get a good night's sleep and my mood is generally a bit low (as are my energy levels) but for all these niggles - the benefits definitely outweigh the things I mention.

PinkArt · 07/11/2024 00:07

Drat I was hoping one might cancel out the other @WeAllHaveWings! Also really hoping that the constipation that a lot of people have got might balance out years of IBS-D.

Ruthietuthie · 07/11/2024 00:10

Also REALLY cold, particularly my hands and feet.
The underwires of my bra now dig into my ribs in rather an uncomfortable manner. The bra is a bit too big now, so I am hoping the correct size might solve this.
The injections also helped my impulse shopping.

HansHolbein · 07/11/2024 00:35

Well, being fucking freezing is one of them!

The other one which I am delighted about, is that I don’t want to spend any money.. Amazon must be worried about me!

GrimDamnFanjo · 07/11/2024 00:53

I don't fancy a glass of wine anymore!

soupfiend · 07/11/2024 00:57

Weight loss in general, but yes bones, where did they all come from, they are quite uncomfortable in the bath
The cold
Dont float anymore
Glasses too big for my face now

lapuf · 07/11/2024 06:34

I posted on the October starters thread too about this one but in week 2 I had a period, they're normally debilitating (endometriosis on colon) and I hardly noticed any symptoms this month. Probably something to do with inflammation but was such a relief

Summerhillsquare · 07/11/2024 06:40

Yes, the cold!

How much my massive belly got in the way - I can do yoga much more easily now.

But the main thing is the cure of my nicotine addiction - stopped dead, and didn't even notice. Surely worth paying for on its own!!

Interesting. I bought some Uniqlo airism built in bra vest tops which are both warm and blissfully non diggy in. And as no longer have massive norks look rather sleek too, they hold all the loose skin in.

I still like a wee shop sadly!

How strange that you mention this, it's been the opposite for me! I managed to stop for 2 years, hair never looked so good. Started again in earnest when I started MJ, struggling to stop again.
I agree with cold, I have to take a wheat bag to my desk for work now, looking into rechargeable hot water bottles.

I thought when I opened this thread it would be able weird medication side affects. I have noticed since starting MJ that my eyes are caked with sleep every morning now, all crusty (gross), never experienced this in my life until now.

daffodilandtulip · 07/11/2024 07:50

Amazon keep sending me reminders about things I've forgotten to buy.

My rings don't fit.

I'm not addicted to Diet Coke.

My regular dog walk route takes half the time.

Vax · 07/11/2024 07:56

The bath is less comfy as my bones aren't padded.

Being freezing is a known side effect.

Hair loss. I'm getting seriously worried about the amount of hair I'm shredding.

Bananaspyjamas · 08/11/2024 20:31

I've been nail biter my entire life and I've just been able to stop, I literally forget about my nails. I've never experienced this before!

Disturbia81 · 08/11/2024 20:41

Not myself but a friend tells me all about her experience, the unexpected ones for her were feeling flat about life (I've reassured her once she's off them she'll feel like herself again plus she'll be slim!) as she feels she's losing this weight and not benefiting!
No energy
She's stopped drinking. She wasn't expecting to so she's really pleased about that

MontyJinks · 08/11/2024 22:15

My (non-swollen) feet are now bony!
Face noticeably slimmer
Freezing cold hands and feet
Feel calm and relaxed
No wine noise (no alcohol since starting!)
No desire for crisps, pudding or sweet stuff
Quite burpy, more so on injection day
... Daring to hope, for the first time ever, that because of this pure magic in a stick that I may, just may, actually someday be able to be a 'normal' weight 😲
